Still not cheap. Purchaser I talked to a month or more ago said it would work out to $8.15 equivalent barley price, delivered into southern AB. Give or take the price movement in corn.
How does that compare to $9.22 for a 54 lb bushel of corn, when feed value is considered?
Also noteworthy is that Agfinity have no offers for barley right now. Could be because the bids dropped about 70 cents in about a week recently? Or are all offers picked up immediately?

The buyer I deal mostly with said he has booked a good portion of his needs as corn. Said pricing on corn Nov forward drops quite a bit as now new crop. Said most Alberta elevators are bringing in supply. They feed mostly chickens and dairy, there is a max amount of corn they can use for the chickens due to fat and meat color but dairy is fine going straight to corn. he thinks there is downside to feed grains but says it's not gonna crash.

We might be talking to the same buyer?
Said corn wouldn't start coming in until new crop, meaning October. Which is what the offer on Agfinity is showing at $9.22 out till December. But that could be wishful thinking on the sellers part.

        High priced feed for sure.
This pre-buying is what should have been going on last year, but instead the barley got shipped out to China.

        China spot corn - 525 CAD/t
US outstanding export sales 24.2 mmt. Last year, same time frame, was 19.3 mmt

Note: September WASDE raised China's beginning stocks, production and ending stocks of corn for 2021/22

Feed barley, I would agree it will be priced in lock step with corn Plus cost to get it here. Malt party there's not much other supply in the world, could chart its own path .

Not sure if locals have enough malt to fill boats or trains anymore..
              Premium now over future months..
Better stock up on beer just incase..
