It’s called market manipulation. They tell us it’s an open free system but behind the scenes there’s a group that knows things can’t get to out of whack or the whole system fails. If true capitalism prevailed and price discovery was really allowed to happen commodities would be unaffordable for most people. We always ask why has the price of this product or that product not kept pace with our rising costs? Because they can’t let it get away or u would have the peasants controlling to much power. Ie farmers. Funny how they can choose winners and losers. Ie the dairy and poultry industry but not the grain industry. Dangle the carrot but not too many bites.

There is another thing that is very important for buyers.
The need to execute trades in an orderly manner.
Minneapolis has never been great for that.
Sentiment in the Sept contract is extremely lopsided and December isn't much better. The difference is going forward December will have increased activity and a much better chance to execute in an orderly manner. September could get very volatile with few willing to give up their position and the chance of slippage goes way up

                liquidity liquidity liquidity...

grain cos have to offset the grain they buy from you...
farmers are saying there is nothing there and even if there is a bit they are locking the bin doors.
would you be shorting wheat off sept or nov in this environment?
there was only one state trading enterprise who would and thank god they are now gone.
figure out the rules and use them to your advantage
