American ranchers buying up Canadian hay /government support?

So American ranchers fresh off of government
Support payments are buying up Canadian hay
As far north as meadow lake? They must
Be getting one hell of a support to
Even truck it that far never mind
    Buy the hay itself?
Does anyone know if or what they are
    Getting?

American farmers have been given 100 billion in Canadian dollars over the last 5 years alone....well supported..

Canadian farmers and ranchers are being shit on..

The cattle industry will be set back a decade with this drought...anyone over the age of 65 with no one to take over is probably going to call it a career...and more than likely a 45 year career.

There is a massive consolidation coming. The young guys are licking their lips even though they haven't tasted the salt.

Got to be disheartening to have no feed and water
And American semi loads of hay going by down rhe highway
On our Canadian roads all supported by programs
That pay you right now not based on Kevin hursh
And accountants bullshit of forms upon forms and delays
Only to get a bill for rhe bureacracy and a reporter
That says its farmers fault and a premier and administer
that says We can’t support our producers all the while federal
money 60% is there for the taking!!!!

      It’s embarrassing how dumb!

They are looking in central AB too but not much excess. Years ago a bunch went south, that time the us gov paid the trucking bill so made it possible. $150/bale hay doesnt work so how can you add a $50 plus trucking bill to that?

Supposedly they are also getting a trucking subsidy they are
Desperate and their government is on the ball and
Not intentionally bound to these loser programs
          That intentionally don’t work.

Government could have said ....make sure the ranchers have feed ...we will make it right on your insurance...

Told the ranchers or custom balers to get to work...

Instead they made it harder for cattle guys and farmers to make a deal..

They told grain farmers to be businessmen....look at every dollar ...so a 15 bpa crop on 160 acres of durum right now is 35000. No rancher is going to pay 35000 for 80 bales or even 100 bales.

So at the end of the day government phucked ranchers ....no lube and they added sand.

            See the problem they created.

Exactly created more of a resentment between grain
And cattlemen when the opposite is needed.
This is not a pinch the penny moment this is
Get fuukn real and save an industry it’s estimated
40% of rhe cow herd will be gone if nothing is
Done to help. And I ll repeat it until your sick of me
Which is long past I know!!! Lol but why wouldn’t
You get the fuukn 60% for free! It’s brainless it’s
Poor business skills it’s a kick in the balls not to!

And to add even more love to the situation
It’s the Americans that are buying these
Cows are a 30% discount. So they are stocking their
Herds taking our feed to feed them while our
Government sits in those ass and acts like
Screwed businessmen when they are long term
Shifting the entire cattle herd to the USA!!!

At least charge a fuukn road tax at the border
They’re going to wreck our roads hauling
Our cattle and hay our industry away and we ll
have to pay to fix the damage!! Lol

Sask crop insurance offers a rainfall insurance on your
Pasture and hayland.I took out a lot more this year.we got some timely rains so got a hay crop but if not my coverage would have went a long way to feed my cows even at the high grain and hay costs.Rainfall is all calculated and either you get a cheque or you do not.with discounts it is very reasonable.

So why in the world would you not want to become American?

At least the Government and the people seem to see value in Agriculture and want to see it succeed.
This is really becoming a dead beat country!

AFSC does lack of moisture as well for silage and pasture. Really kicks you down when it rains on the weather station 30 miles away but not at home. I equate it to going to Vegas.

My pasture growth was about half for May/June and they said my two weather stations got 72% and 90% of normal so no payment. Now if I get a dump of rain at the end of August it’ll “average” out and no payment as well. It’s a junk program in my eyes compared to production insurance. Why can’t I have production insurance on my biggest and riskiest crop…….. grass?

                        *end of rant*

The level of coverage is so out of touch with
Costs and rhe fact that not much rain kicks
You out of coverage. An inch of rain in a dry
Spell of 35 to 40 degrees weather with wind
Does a lot less for grass than an inch of rain
At 20 to 25 degrees. It becomes a lottery just as
                          The above poster mentioned.

Bottom line totally inadequate for 200 buck
Bales not to mention the trucking. And a
Flawed so called relief in doubling the write off
                          It hasn’t helped anyone here

I asked SCIC what the low yield appraisal is for hayland ...and it should be doubled just like a grain crop..then zeroed and I can graze it ...its never been grazed and it may well **** the hay for next year.

                            They hadn't been asked that.

So its a little concerning that government people can't think things through.

Never said it was perfect but a much better tool of protection than agstability.Simple is good.Rainfall insurance simple agstability not.I wish they offered it on crop land.at least the extra money put into saving a crop is not just saving crop insurance money.
