Agree. Just remember the % of kids with one parent going up all the time.

OhTools suggestion to give families the money directly might swing a few votes his way. Focusing the help to low income families more, is a good idea, but that sounds like socialism!

But the early childhood education and socialization that comes from good quality day cares and early learning programs can't always be delivered in the home.

So if you give the money directly to low income families, will it really improve the outcomes for the family and especially the children? Or is it just going to be used to help them survive?

Moe and Pallister signed on to the Trudeau program, so they must have thought it was okay.

        Definition of Socialization:
organization of an industry or company according to the principles of socialism.
"planned economic growth was accompanied by the socialization of agriculture"

As I was saying above about indoctrinating kids to be good socialists being difficult to do in their own homes.
Then Chuck puts it into words, thank you.

Relying on daycare to raise ones children is so sad. When one has children there are sacrifices to be made.

Parents need to raise their own kids again. If possible.

Wife ran a small day care on farm.Kids that first came as scared of everyone ended up being much better socially after being here a year or 2 before going into kindergarden. With smaller families some kids need to get out with other kids at a young age. .

I think to be truly “socialized”, kids need to be with and interact with people other than their peers. Adults etc. Real life situations.

Agree 100%.that is why it is good to get a 2 or 3 or 4 year old away from mommy and into a structured situation.

My bad, I thought, daycare and early learning programs were safe and healthy places that preschool children go when mommy and daddy have to go to work to pay the mortgage or get the harvest off.

Anything with the word social in it seems to be a big red flag to you!

Are you a Joe Macarthy's decendent or what?

Did you see socialistization instead of socialization? You must have a "special" libertarian dictionary!

                  so·cial·i·za·tion

                  1.
the activity of mixing socially with others.
"socialization with students has helped her communication skills"
                  2.
the process of learning to behave in a way that is acceptable to society.
"preschool starts the process of socialization"

How many kids do you know at daycare while mom is helping?

So what sacrifices did you personally make to raise your children?

Did you stop farming, work and stay at home with the kids?

Did you send your kids to school or home school?

Did you play hockey with them or did they participate in sports in the community?

Its great to stay at home and raise the kids but that's not possible for everyone and a lot of farms used to survive on the spouses off farm income which required someone else to take care of the kids.

There is plenty of time for parenting even if the kids go to a daycare.
