Possibly as close to zero as it can get?

After seeing the sprouting issues in pods and pod loss in standing canola in many areas across many varieties I would say we will be lucky to get 10-11
This canola a long ways from bin and quality will be not good .
A big few winds and it will drop more in swath or standing.
Not being a downer , but reality will not set in till mid Sept on canola .

Won't oil yield be lower in smaller seeds,,, what about oil level in sprouted seeds ?

I am afraid it will be near non existent

Time sill tell how wide spread it will be of just driest areas seeded before May 20th with higher fertility.
Regardless it’s there and it’s more of a problem than most think .
Tolerance at elevators may be 5% ? But who knows this year

We found 'Heated' was the biggest problem for those who straight cut.
Because there is no oil standard as part of the CGC Canola grades, no deduct for lower oil, but dry hen maturing does not mean less oil necessarily. Canola is an amazing plant, don't cut it too green in dry weather [60-80% seed colour change] and the quality turns out well... usually!

              Cheers

It was prevalent in areas in 2001 / 2002

I have never seen it and I got 50 plus years on a combine and bought grain in the late 70s, last thing I would expect to see, who would of thought.

It was seen in very southern Alberta and southern Sask at that time
You probably never seen the extreme drought back then up in the Peace ?

1981 was way worse than this year, not a drop of water anywhere in any slough.
