2002 was dryer for a us, six bushel wheat and at least 50% of acres didn’t see a combine. The overall area of this drought is much bigger than previous droughts in my opinion. If this dryness persists into 2022 we could be in a world of hurt.

          P-PET ( precipitation minus potential evapotranspiration )

The maps of western canada during the 1914-1939 period are pretty solid evidence for the potential of a prolonged drought.

Take notice of the increased risk in the “dry zone”

We had a run of wet weather last 17 years. Before it was drying for 17 years. Previous years before I imagine was even worse. Long term drought is a fact of life on the prairies climate change or not. Could be a world of hurt for many years to come for us all.

We have been below normal for 5 out of the past 7 years
Last year was slightly above due to one heavy rain

Hopefully it does not get worse

"Drought could become worst in Canadian history

This year's drought is on its way to becoming the worst the Prairies have ever recorded and the worst ever in Canada, according to John Pomeroy, Canada research chair in water resources and climate change at the University of Saskatchewan. It is already worse than a severe drought in 1961, he said.

"It's early to call it the most severe [drought] at this point, but it certainly has all the hallmarks of heading in that direction," Pomeroy said.

A decade-long drought hit Saskatchewan in the 1930s, but areas like northern Alberta and northern Saskatchewan were unaffected at the time, he said.

"There are no areas like that now," said Pomeroy.

Temperatures in July were three to four degrees hotter than normal while the amount of precipitation was one of the lowest on record, he said.

"When you combine those two, then it looks like the most severe drought is emerging ever experienced over the Prairies," he said.

The conditions extend beyond Canada, he said, with severe droughts in the western half of the United States, the Mediterranean region, Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as years of drought in Australia.
Canada is one of several areas in the world affected by droughts. To the south, severe droughts have hit the western half of the United States. (U.S. Drought Monitor")

Don’t you ever have a thought of your own ?
How do you find time to research all this propaganda , when “harvest is in full swing on your farm”
Is this drivel fed to you ?
                    Do you have staff ?

                      Rain delay.

So its not a bad drought after all? Were you farming in 36,61,88?

                      So Pomeroy is wrong?

Where are your numbers to prove him wrong?

Don't follow A5s example of almost never providing any counter evidence.

And you don't need staff to read or hear the news do ya? LOL

To Chuck's credit, I believe he is the creative genius who coined the word agrisilly.
And apt descriptor for the forum where he is easily the most prolific poster.
Or did you mean a thought other than an insult or calling someone a derogatory name?

From fossil records there were droughts here so long and sustained that the north Saskatchewan river was a dribble. Massive die offs of wildlife, and fires which ravaged the countryside. All before human influence. Drought here is a fact of life plain and simple. I fear if we hit a period like that life as we know it is done. Carbon tax us to oblivion and it will make no difference nor help the situation at hand. I really take issue with those who can cut and paste all this bullshit and blame it all on anthropomorphic induced climate change to the point of it being like an ardent bible thumper preaching revelations. Step back and think for yourself. What if ma nature tries to zero you out. What honestly do you do for yourself and what do you recommend everyone do to survive prolonged drought? What do you do to ensure your children aren’t subject to abject poverty and starvation? It’s easy to cut and paste scholarly articles and media which suits your bent but honestly what do you do to help your own lot in life? It is better to lead by example than preach and do something else.
