    Rain hmmm

I’m rarely one to turn away rain in this desert land but the timing of this has been poor at best

Two inches or so in past week

Very unsettled weather for next 2 weeks with intermittent showers and rare sun and the cherry on top is heavy rain of 2” forecast for Sept 3rd now

Lentils, peas and durum left out won’t be liking that too much.

Straight cut canola is so ripe it’s shelling
From the wind and rain. Not that there was
Much to start with. Taking yield every way possible
Frost bugs heat wind hail and now rain.

Agree ache and wheel , this weather is going to be hard to stomachs.

Bad enough to have a poor crop , but to have to fight to get it off let alone have quality amd or yield decline as we helplessly watch literally from the combine is going to be tough on guys.
Here we had small contracts , at the time , that are now a large portion of the current crop . We know it’s there , but now to sit on the sidelines due to weather is tough when it was close to ready .

This makes the contracted grain issue that much more of an issue .

Most here needed just a few more days to get the cereals finished.

All the durum and even canary were ready to roll on when these rains came. I dont know what grade is out there now but doubt its a no 1. Only going to fall now. Be a bunch of guys rolling off some barely dry acres today and bagging it.

My durum is a little later so hopefully it can ride out the moisture. Still fighting to get a last field of lentils off.

What a year. All the rains we should have had in June july are now here end of August. what a fcked up occupation.

Walked into a large field of green lentils and they are a grasshopper banquet. Very few pods left but trillions of huge hoppers regenerating for next year.
