Green Canola, nothing left if unsprayed. Grasshoppers chew the pods down one side and flee beetles completely clean up all the green leaves. We have a lot of bugs here for some reason.

Here as well sumdum. Cutterbar loaded with flea beetles, lygus bugs, and diamondback worms. Cutting the last field of canola, so no spraying. Next year could be interesting though!

Drought or flood? I have had both and drought sucks less. No getting stuck and drying grain. Our area used to be considered sure crop country but after 5 years in a row of crop insurance claims that is no longer the case. What happens on solonetz in a flood: run off and pop up sloughs everywhere. Solonetzic land drains slowly and gets hard when dry so it needs regular moderate rainfalls. That has not happened for a number of years now. Either a mist or a deluge. Had a river last year that ran from spring to Aug 10 which cut off some land that resulting in a too wet to seed claim. In snowy winters that runs in the spring only. This year it only had water after the 2 in rain on May 18, which was the biggest rain of this past season and we seeded through that area as we normally have done in the past.
