Been sprayed 18 days , canola is dry finally now . Yesterday’s sun and wind finally brought it down under 10 .
Some guys having issues with green pods and poor threshing . Pockets in fields go above 13-14 moisture, and guys are not threshing the tough pods
Ours was like that 4 -5 days ago . We left it and went to swathed canola . Simply need to wait .
What is interesting is that about an hour after sunset the yield and moisture monitors started going all over the map . Temp dropped a lot and humidity jumped
Combine was still doing a decent job but in areas that were 10-15 bus it was reading 0-5 . Simply moisture build up on sensors. We checked and checked , the combine still doing decent but quit anyway as it got to 70% humidity quick
Moisture reading shot up to 15 , so took sample in this morning, still 10 . More green material in hopper and humidity. Happened quick but really just needed to double check
Was no issue in swathed canola , to be expected I guess .
Anyway, if your straight cutting and having issues in low areas with tough green pods , you may just have to let the sun work now that’s it’s out .
A few days made a huge difference.
The lite burnt out areas are higher moisture than the low heavy areas now . Simply the good areas have matured out now .
5 in burnt out areas, 35-40 plus in low areas
Sad thing is , low areas are only 10-20% of each field but interesting how well the canola actually did with subsoil moisture after 35 days of plus 30 c heat .
Story much the same all over here .
All our standing canola now well under 1% green
