Only 3 Months Late, closer to reality finally

Holly sht there are a couple guys on here who had that canola number pretty much pegged back in July. I think their consensus was around 11.7 MMT. Way closer than any agency, even USDA was off.

Where is the balance between export and domestic need? No surprises we knew canola was a disaster since July.

Based on those numbers durum is the sleeper with the highest up side potential.

Canola was close to double the yield of durum in our area. Canola seems more drought resistant, for our experience the last few years.

Apparently I was wrong. I thought the market knew stats canada was out to lunch with their high estimates. But judging by todays response, the market as in denial about how small this crop is.

Not in denial, just trying to squeeze guys at harvest.

I still believe we will be well below 12 ,especially as harvest finishs up and reality continues to set in
Some areas had a few pleasant surprises but for the most part and vast majority the canola crop simply not there .
For those that were still claiming over 18 at the end of July , they need to find a new occupation because that was absolutely absurd

The report says statscan still using satellite imagery. Could still easily be off on those numbers. And those supercells that rolled through end of August.

I don't think Larry ever did post the results of his analysis, but the hint was that it was in the single digits. More corrections yet to come?

Satellite images can't distingiush an empty/blank pod on a green plant from a full pod on a green plant.

Could be for some, Canola, Wheat and Peas yields are close to the same…

Flax in our area seems to be yielding close to 30 which at $30 a bushel is decent!

I was perusing the Canola Digest magazine recently. According to their numbers, by 2024, Canada will have almost 16 mmt of canola crush capacity. The future for canola looks bright!
