Vaccine passport in Saskatchewan? How many days?

A few weeks ago my best guesstimate of how long it would take Alberta and Saskatchewan to bring back substantive covid measures including a passport was October 1.

Alberta has brought in the much dreaded vaccine passport system along with a lot of restrictions for unvaccinated Albertans. You could see the train wreck coming weeks ago, but the Engineer left his station and tried to hide gleefully in his "faux defeat" of covid with the best summer ever!

It might indeed be Kenney's best last summer as leader of the UCP as his political fortunes fall faster than a lead balloon.

Who is willing to estimate how long it will take Moe and his Merriman to bring in a passport now that Alberta has fallen to the "commies"? Keep in mind they are slow learners and they take their cues from Alberta.

I am guessing again, but I predict it will be sometime next week.

I do not understand why they didn't do either of the following.

    1. Put a sticker on your health card like the one they use for renewals.

    2. Issue you a plastic card like a driver's license that has the required info on it .

Neither would cost much and certainly not the billion Trudeau has promised for passports.

The paper card with your vaccine dates on it means what?

No, they want an app on your phone. 🤪 You know how many people don’t own a cell phone? And how many wouldn’t have a clue what to do with an appetizer? And how many apps don’t work? Forget it! Try your Tim Horton’s app lately?

          Full story:
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has announced the province will implement mandatory masking, a proof of vaccination policy and a requirement for government employees to get vaccinated or receive negative tests.

Moe made the announcement in a video posted on his social media account Thursday morning.

The provincial mask policy will apply to all public indoor spaces. It begins Friday and the province has a target of lifting it in late October.

The proof of vaccination policy will start Oct. 1 and will apply to establishments, businesses and event venues.

"Unfortunately today we are faced with a fourth wave," Moe said in the video.

He said the wave was being driven "overwhelmingly" by unvaccinated people.

"We have been very patient — possibly too patient — but the time for patience is over."

Moe said those who are not vaccinated "are creating consequences for others."

"The vast majority of people in Saskatchewan have done the right thing and have grown tired of the reckless decision of the unvaccinated that are now driving our fourth wave," Moe said.

He said government employees in ministries, Crowns, and agencies will be required to provide proof of vaccination by Oct. 1 or get consistent negative tests.

Moe and chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab are scheduled to provide an update on the province's COVID-19 response at 2 p.m. CST Thursday. Stream it live here.

As of Thursday, Saskatchewan had the highest case rates per capita over a seven-day period and the second-lowest vaccination rates among provinces.

Alberta, which shares similar high case rates and the lowest vaccination rates in the country, introduced several health policies Wednesday aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19 and increasing vaccinations.

Alberta also declared a public state of emergency.

In the last three weeks, COVID-19 hospitalizations and ICU admissions have double in Saskatchewan and active cases have increased by two and a half times.

"Our system is on the brink right now. Literally no ICU beds in the entire province," said Regina's Dr. Alex Wong on Wednesday.

Last week, Moe announced mandatory vaccination or proof of a negative test for health-care workers, reintroduced mandatory isolation for positive cases and close contacts who are not vaccinated, and said surgeries and other health procedures would be affected by COVID-19 care needs.

The government has previously declined to introduce a provincial mask mandate or a proof of vaccination policy, as had been called for on Aug. 26 by provincial medical health officers.

Last week, Moe said health measures were a "stop-gap" meant to bridge the province until vaccines were available and the majority of the province were vaccinated.

He said requiring vaccinations would create "two classes of citizens" and called the policy "divisive."

Moe said he believed getting vaccinated is choice.

On Monday, the province signed an emergency order to redirect health-care workers.

"If we are in a state of emergency, then we need to act like it," said Tracy Zambory, the president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN).

"This government is putting the bulk of the pandemic on health-care workers and they have other options that they could look at to reduce these numbers," echoed Sandra Seitz, the president of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 543

So much for our world class health care system. Couple extra patients and the whole house of cards crumbles. 18 months to add ICU capacity and nothing done, nothing built, nothing spent. Incompetence squared.

But I welcome all the new measures because I am so curious what the next goal post to move will be or group to shame once the hospitals start filling with vaxxed like in Israel, Ireland, Iceland etc. Popcorn ready.

Spoken like a true idiot. 7 to 8 nurses and doctors to look after one patient in the icu. Multiply by 3 8 hr shifts. Then we have eckmos and intubation equipment. You could never ramp up icu capacity to meet every emergency. On the other hand covid icu patients in Mb. Are all unvaccinated. What an inexpensive solution. Thanks to your pooh poohing of vaccination we will all bear the consequences.

7 doctors and nurses per patient in ICU? are you out of your fcking mind?

Have you ever been in an ICU? Christ they staff them like the emergency ward. 2 doctors and a handful of nurses for the entire floor.

Looking forward to your next shame target in a few months. I can only guess the blame will fall on 6 month old babies next.

What part of 60% vaxxed in hospitals in Israel is so hard for you to understand.

If I vaccinated 70% of my cattle and 4 mo later more were sick than prior to the vaccine I'm not going to be looking for more of the same.
Maybe the Sinovax at 68% is a better deal.
                        What could be worse?

I got both jabs to get past this bullshit.

I will get the VIDO when it comes as it is an old time cultured vaccine. Not some experimental bullshit that is 98% effective but has more people in the hospital than any time previously.
                        And no big pharma bullshit.

Yes we should have the free market health care like the U.S. Idaho has just issued a standard of care directive . What does that mean? Hospitals can triage patients and treat those that have the best survival chance
They are overrun with covid patients. Alberta is on a trajectory to be like them.

So those "cancer patients "sic will be triaged because they are swamped with covid patients. Idaho has one of the lowest vax rates in the U.S.you really have reached new lows in your anti vax crusade. Blood on your hands.
