98% of the surrounding area was -4 to -5 yet the temp will be recorded as much higher in the micro climate of the city limits ... you have it assed backwards

Worked black will be totally different than stubble. I’m not sure where would be best but to me ground level readings have way to many variables.
My guess would be that air temperatures would have to be monitored above ground at some level that has allowed the air to mix enough to be more stable. The higher atmospheric levels would be more accurate, no?

Want to send a big thank you to all of the contributors to this great thread. What a relief it is to be back to arguing about the (relatively speaking) unifying topic of global warming and weather instead of covid, just like the good old days.
Anyone want to start a thread about bringing back the CWB or alternative energies now?

Yay for wind turbines!

Your own farm yard will likely differ from your fields, especially if there are shelterbelts, building etc. So what if it was warmer in the city if it is consistantly warmer in the city. Agree but you are missing the point completely, or simply ignoring it . Absolutely temps are different in many areas on calm nights / mornings . That h
Why it important? Temps used it artificially warm areas like urban micro climates are being used as a basses for global warming. As never changed in thousands of years .
Was simply pointing out that fact . Taking temps from areas that represent a fraction of the area . Whats the big panic , 2c and the world will end from the climate cult ?
Easy to cherry pick data that does not represent 98% of the land mass around it .
It all ends up skewing the average temps , and by 1.5c ..... obviously not hard to do .

Except if that same location becomes encircled by pavement, city heat and airplane exhaust. Then it is not in the ‘same’ location.
