John Deere X9

I took a few x 9 s for next year but the header is what I was really impressed in. He combine can eat and not grow over. Uses less fuel and nice machine to drive and work on. One chain on whole machine.

Yea we let the S790s go. Sad I really liked them.

Are you replacing your 3 S790’s with only 2 X9 1100’s? Just wondering if you felt the capacity of the X9 would allow you to do that. I know companies claim that a combine will have a certain percentage more capacity than the previous models but just could be a sales pitch.

Likely 2 or 3 x9 and upgrading in Florida, cant begrudge that .

How many acres should one x9 be able to run across to justify the cost, 5-6000. Most around us are running 2000-3000 acres per machine, the odd one runs up to 4000, but that'd be max for our area.

No I got three coming plus headers. Acres might be added next year if not the next.

Alot of farms are still trying to lower the taxes on their 2020 crop. Even if they sold canola for $15 average, north of us had 60-65 bpa averages. Some did wait and will be $18-20 avg. Alot of profit occurred from 2020 and alot of deferred grain happened. 2021 may have been a wreck but still have to lower the tax bill somehow.

I will very gladly pay the tax bill as long as I get the left over dollars. 9% this year what are you buying unwanted over priced things. Even high rate is only 27%.

The new tax scam of 100% deductible one needs to really watch and manage. If like S3 and paying cash its a nice way to match dollars. Will bite hard down the road if retiring in a few years.

So how did the x9 compare capacity wise?

We don’t have 790’s. But have 680’s. Its 1.5x our combines. Rotor loss situations I can see it being 1.75x a S680.

Know of a field where an X9 demo’d in some pretty heavy green canola against an 8800. Where btw a Lexion shines. It couldn’t hold a candle to the X9.

I agree it’s all about cost per acre.

X9s will work for us but the 50 ft header is 45 ft here.

I would like to see COSTS including depreciation per acre comparing 3 of each. I will do mine on a STO.
