The solar and wind resources are pretty good in the dry cold southern prairies. We still need baseload and backup for the intermittent periods but you can reduce the consumption of fosssil fuels and reduce carbon emissions with both.

Efficiency gains and conservation will also reduce energy consumption.

But if everyone wants to drive a 500 hp gas guzzler to pickup their 6 donuts and a coffee in a drive through because they are too lazy, we are obviously not paying attention to what makes sense for energy use.

Not to mention that the size of waists and asses out there is way up too. Too many donuts and not enough work and exercise!

Get out the stretch pants and sweatpants and pass the donuts.

Yes some waste lots of fuel with there 500 Hp vehicles getting donuts and some even fly to Tofino to go surfing on a private jet. I wander want blew more carbon into the atmosphere. Hard to fly like a eagle when you are being led by a turkey. And then fly to Calgary to welcome the 2 Micheals home when one was coming to Toronto that same night or the next day. Could have easily met in Toronto and flew the western Micheal on a scheduled flight to go see the PM.
Lead by example or is it do as I say and not what I do.

Those details weren’t in the briefing

There are a lot of posters on this site who also like to vacation and burn a lot of jet fuel.

So if you are going to argue that leaders need to set a good example, you also better be setting a good example.

The difference is, Dear Uck, I don’t preach, denegrate and pontificate to others about using fossil fuels. Trudeau does.

Hard to believe that someone whining about the neighbours truck or boat or camper but turns a blind eye to the billionaires flaunting their wealth in the face of humanity with several mansions , private jets , a fleet of gas guzzlers. But hey as long as they sing the tune , you don’t worry about how bad the song turns out

Oh yes we are setting a example. Didn’t you hear the liberal Governent telling us not to travel. I am listening. Anyways I would take a scheduled flight that would fly regardless if I am on or not. Secondly I am not the one trying to eliminate fossil fuel he is. It ain’t about fuel it’s his way of hurting the west.

Never say never, its interesting to read the positives and negatives regarding EV

Ive driven a friends Tesla, great experience - and go !

Wonder how many have actually driven one, for many individuals and locations it looks like a option, aside from politics, efficiencies, logistics, economics, etc

Open mind thought, imagine a small nuclear fuel cell the size of a refrigeration filter, oh my what will that thought start?

                          ?
Nobody is doubting that its a fun ride. Its the physics of mass penetration behind it that are impossible.

To power these as daily drivers with 2 in every home using renewables is impossible unless it comes with a crash program for nukes and hydro and thousand mile transmission line upgrades right down to the street level.

Far as I am concerned, tesla is just a mass produced prototype. its the typical cart before the horse. Develop the sexy part to peak interest and leave those messy details off. I mean thats why Tesla has a valuation larger than all auto companies combined. Its a cult of the unicorns.

Someday Rareearth that little fuel cell will change our lives forever. Can you imagine? no fuel tanks, no charging for 8 hours, just plug in the cell and Tally Hoe!

Part of me wants to correct all the misinformation and lies in this thread but it's not really worth the effort. Driving EV since 2017 and will never buy another ICE vehicle if there is an electric option.
