Its a chart ferchrisake. I never said fertilizer was affordable or unaffordable and nobody is holding a gun to your head to buy it at any price. You want a chart for your current attitude? Here's one for you

maybe take a page from the input/equipment suppliers book.
      lets listen to the politicians.
they want us to reduce co2 so lets do it.
stop with the fert and expensive chems.
stop ordering 2-3 new x9s o r9xr tractors to pull the new 80 ft baourgaults with the 1150 bu tanks.
quit buying million dollar grain setups and 10,000 sqft heated shops
cancel the order for the new denali 2500 for you and denali suburban for the wife
sign up for crop ins and agstability use that cash to live
take as much cash adv as possible
use the savings and buy a 2nd home somewhere nice to get away from it all
when production drops to almost nothing and commodity prices rise to where we're still profitable and food prices are 50% of the average wage then maybe people will figure it out.
let the elite bid up price of farmland and live off the increase in equity for a few years.
play the rules that they have set out
play a round or 2 of golf during seeding and harvest, not much invested so who cares?

I realize this wont be popular with the highly leveraged highly efficient farms running 10, 20,000 acres or more on razer thin margins...so you have to stop bragging on the facebook and the twitter and the youtube about how you can get a full section planted or harvest in a day, honestly no one gives a frack. but when policticians come for some of that extravagance the people who you feed will just cheer them on.
if the treadmill is going too fast maybe just jump off and go for a quiet walk in the forest.
