Devin Dreeshen is no longer Alberta’s minister of agriculture and forestry.

He resigned Friday citing his “personal conduct with regards to alcohol”

Devin Dreeshen is no longer Alberta’s minister of agriculture and forestry.

“This morning, I offered Premier Jason Kenney my resignation as Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and he has accepted,” Dreeshen tweeted on Nov. 5. “I accept that my personal conduct with regards to alcohol has become an issue for the government as a whole.

“I deeply regret that this is the case, but have decided that it is best for both myself and the province to resign my position and focus on my personal health and wellness.”

The 33-year-old will remain the MLA for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.

Premier Kenney has appointed Nate Horner, the associate minister of rural economic development and MLA for Drumheller-Stettler, as the new minister of agriculture and forestry.

Dreeshen’s resignation came after he was named in a lawsuit against the premier’s office.

Ariella Kimmel, a former chief of staff to the minister of jobs, economy and innovation, filed a statement of claim last month.

The document includes an allegation of Mr. Dreeshen being heavily intoxicated in October 2020 in his office and yelling at Kimmel to the point where a bystander intervened, Global News reported. The document also notes Dreeshen and Kimmel were previously in an on-again, off-again romantic relationship.

None of the allegations in the statement of claim have been proven in court.

Farms.com has contacted Minister Horner for comment on getting up to speed on the ag file and preparing for the federal-provincial-territorial ag ministers meeting later this month.

All of Canada’s agriculture ministers are scheduled to meet on Nov. 20 and 27 to discuss business risk management program improvements."

God Bless him I hope for the best as he works to recover.

    Cheers

He is / was / and always will be a spoiled kid. Drunk or not.

Part of the problem with the fact western Canada doesn't have a proactive disaster relief program or reasonable BRMs is because of that phucking clown when he was in Ritz's office.

More than likely the cheerleaders of Dreeshen will nominate him for the ag hall of fame

Have you ever met Devon Bucket? When he originally ran for the nomination we had a meeting in my shop to sell memberships. Now there is no doubt I am disappointed in what has happened and disappointed in Devon. What has transpired in Alberta in the last 2 years certainly hasn’t gone the way those who ran for the UCP or for those who voted for the UCP would have liked. His behaviour certainly can’t be condoned and he made the right decision resigning as minister of agriculture. But calling him a spoiled kid if you haven’t met him or don’t know him isn’t fair in my opinion.

Can't meet a guy that wouldn't take a call when he was Ritzs office.

Remember he was a bureaucrat when the conservatives gutted some sort of a BRM program.

His dad got him the job in Ottawa ffs.

Did you read my post? I said Devon made the right decision resigning as agriculture minister. If this had been Justin Trudeau, he would have just said that everyone was just experiencing it differently and not resigned!!

                    Another word for Rememberance Day:

To Err is Human, To Forgive Divine.

God Bless Premier Moe, and Devon; Give them the wisdom to change the things they can, and the courage to accept the things they cannot.

Devon is a caring compassionate human being, who like all of us deserves understanding and appreciation for the good decisions and difficult courageous leadership they have shared with us... during these difficult times. We need to spend much more time Praying for Wisdom for our leaders; and much less time, and hard hearts, faulting them for activities we ourselves are guilty of; at the same time.

                    Cheers

You can dislike a person in a political post and have very little to agree on about their policies yet still wish them the best for their health.

If Devon is truly going to try and beat alcohol and what could easily be alcoholism, then I wish him the best in that. It’s not an easy fight and it’s one many, many people need to tackle (yet also generally think they don’t) Even harder is the fact it’s been very public and lead to a resignation and a plethora of idiotic comments. So good for him if he is going through with it for personal help.

Disagreement with someone and lack of political support shouldn't lead people to wish poorly for them.

And now we get a Horner for Ag minister. From a long line of politicians and wealthy connected farmers.
