Any way I've observed those in Manitoba who do adjust, adapt and manage risk. They build on raised or elevated yard sites as well as build large earth dams/dykes to keep water during flooding out the homes and barns, they have back up generators for back up power (barns, homes etc), for extreme weather situations. There is a saying “ never say woe in a mud holeâ€.
