Back in the 80s we had hunters cut fences and try to hunt from the truck window. One even trying to pick a couple deer out of the cows grazing on s rolled out bale. Used to have antique scavengers back in the day just driving around old yards.

Doesn’t matter if they cause damage or not. You are the titled land owner and you call the shots on that dirt. Asking permission is the least any hunter can do. Maybe they should leave a clean $1000 bill for the privilege of walking on my land.

Do you ever Snowmobile on trails or even across a nice fluffy field?

No, not just ego af5 there is real damage.

This year alone I have had one gate driven through and destroyed, another left open, and trees cut to access a field. I have had all kinds of garbage dumped in fields and approaches everything from paper products to old clothes to a mattress and wrecked furniture. I have had standing crops driven through and every wet year I have to deal with ruts left. Worst incident was a grass fire likely started by a hot muffler that burned 30 acres of pasture and fence.

Of course this was not all caused by hunters so I have no issues with those who ask permission and I grant access. Everyone else who have no respect for private property and laws are treated the same way as if they were the ones dumping and vandalizing

IT used to be there was respect for others but that is eroding more every year. This forum is a perfect example of the decline of respect for others over time with increased name calling and snide comments

Would have to look back a ways to find pictures but I had a calf shot about 5yrs ago, in the center of my pasture (not from the road) verified by fish and wildlife officer. I let pretty well anyone go that asks, with a few rules but it is irritating when they dont ask. Had one guy call my cell asking if he could have entry to one quarter which I granted, little did he know I was actually about to drive by, him and buddies were already loading the gutted deer in the truck when I went by maybe 2 minutes later.

For twenty years we said yes to anyone who asked. The only stipulation was, when are you coming and when are you leaving. But a lot of people want carte blanche. It got to be bird watchers, berry pickers, people canoeing, hunters, shed hunters, it was getting to be year round, and oh could we get some firewood while we are here, we would only take deadfall. So after a couple decades of abuse we just started saying no a few years back. There were to many deer before. There still are. Didn’t make a difference, but at least I can enjoy my own place now without wondering who is coming around the next grove of trees. As sheep wheat says if you are the only one to leave some habitat they all flock your way. But it doesn’t happen anymore. A few still ask but the word is no. The problem was it got be someone’s cousin or friend I gave permission two years back... don’t I remember? They would show up unannounced and just assume. If we don’t have property rights as a society, be it physical or intellectual, I think we are in real trouble. There are a few instances where someone comes on without permission but I have never had any resistance or back talk when they are told what the deal is and they don’t come back, and while my hired hand is a heck of a guy and been with me a long time, his initials do not stand for Rest In Peace. 😉

More guys asking this year but less hunting I think and I don't have time to check land for guys that don't. Have no frost in ground so asking guys to stay off certain ground to avoid ruts. Bigger issue now with direct seeding. Game Warden nailed a couple of guys 2 wks ago just 2 miles west of me and I have seen their truck a couple times since so maybe that's why its quiet around here.

Its not necessarily the damage. Its the fact it isn't their property.

If I walked into your house without permission but did no damage are you saying that is OK?

Great comparison. Somebody shooting a deer on a quarter of land or walking into your house.
I think every area is about the same. 90 percent of landowners don’t have a problem with people going out in the fall and harvesting some meat for the freezer. Locally when I go hunting I know who’s land is ok too go on and who are the 10 percent of peoples land you stay away from. I’m thinking about the 2 neighbours I know too stay off of, they have no friends in the area, they’ve been a general pain in the ass too everyone their whole lives, and they also contribute nothing positive too the community.
I can see how the odd hunter not familiar with an area could accidentally stubble onto such peoples land. Thankfully there is still the 90 percent of us that can let people enjoy the land and the wildlife that this province has too offer

Does not matter weather the guy that owns the land is a knob or not it's his land. If the guy hunting has a problem with that they can buy there own land. Know several guys that have done just that and put a hunting shack or trailer there for a few weeks to enjoy. Problem solved.

That doesn't always work, in our case it has made a new problem:

a couple of guys bought adjacent fenced coulee quarters that they rent to the local cowboys.. these quarters butt up against our land..

Neither the cowboys or the land owners fix the fence, and both say it is the other's responsibility.. U see where this is going?
So long story short we fight with cattle in our crops every year,

The land owners have their land posted and allow no one(other then their personal hunting group) to hunt on it.. We have asked, we never plan on hunting it and told them so(we only hunt our own land, that is also posted.. But we do allow friends and neighbours to hunt, except the 1/2 section that butts up against the above mentioned land owner's because the farmyard with house and equipment and pets) but. we are always concerned about wounding an animal that high tails it on their land.. we were told no exceptions.

The last 2 years we have caught them hunting our land without permission.. So my son explained the facts of life to them and their hunting party this year after they walked through the farmyard on the way to their trucks parked in one of our fields..

Everyone sees things differently, I see my land as mine and everyone else needs our permission to use it end of story.

All they have to do is ask , mostly so we know who is out there , otherwise it can be a shitshow. If they are too simple to drive 2 hours and can't figure out the land, maybe handling a gun is beyond their intelligence.

An update, so the guy in our west pasture says he was just looking for mule deer does, but later my son ran into him again with a white tail buck. Oh yeah he says, we have a tag for that as well.

                        Lying phucking cocksucker.
