Interesting story from a neighbour yesterday. He was talking to a buddy from around Drumheller. He had soil tests done and they showed about 15 lbs. of N. he seeds with a seedmaster with 12 inch row spacing and the tests were taken between the rows. He thought that seemed low so he collected samples himself within 2 inches of the seed row. These showed 110 lbs. of N. Ground is so dry it is not frozen, he can dig down and still find fertilizer granules. His wheat went 12-14 bpa. this year, his peas 20 and his canola was less than 5. Planning to cut his fertilizer dramatically. Certainly an unusual year.

FYI, Tom did more than his share fighting the CWB monopoly. It wasn't up to him to promote sales reporting which by the way hadn't existed in non board commodities.

But with regards to fertilizer, why not reporting for fertilizer production/sales/export and import numbers? The fertilizer industry could stand some more scrutiny.

We are blessed to have Crop Management Network in our region... connected to Quebec ... independent owners who have built some new additional dry fert storage over he past few years. They have helped balance things out...Power rich delivered our starter fert last week... something like they had done almost as much volume for 2022 now... as compared to all of last year 2021 sales...

Have many dealt with 'Farmer's Business Network Canada, Inc.' for Generic Glyphos etc.crop protection inputs? Offshoot of original Goudies Glyphos group... now North American wide? For us the distribution point is the EDM International Airport... March delivery...was 13.50/L

540 was $12.40 per litre this morning. Ended up buying one more tote to be on the safe side. So one 1000 Litre tote was $12,400 delivered. Compared to what I bought on sale last spring at $11064.00 delivered for 2 x 1000 litre totes of the same 540 product. So from $5.532 to $11.40 per litre, over 200 % higher. Have quite a bit of old product so we are not too bad. I am told price is going up again by the end of the week.

I prefer seeding between the rows here over right on the row. It may have something to do with the fact our precipitation comes in the form of snow. Plus the having the seed on the darkest part of the field when spring frosts occur.

I set my nudge to 3 inches and centre it when i start a new pass. It works most of the time.
