We had one on order from a local machine shop here but the two week timeframe turned quickly into three months. Luckily my brother phone visa and cancelled the charge a couple days before the 90 day period ran out to dispute it. Now back to find another one.

We quit fall banding in 2002 when we went to a one pass system with our first Seedhawk, before that Nh3 banded in the fall and shoot the seed with shovels in the spring. Should of been listening closer to my Nh3 distributor when he suggested that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do a few fall banded quarters in case Nh3 got iffy in the spring. Sometimes I wonder if we should go back to fall applied Nh3 after fighting frost every spring with our canola the last half dozen years.

Another beautiful week except for two nights of freezing rain. The hunters took lots of wildlife last month but there’s still far too many out here.

This is the third deer to get hit beside my folks yard in a month. At least the coyote trapper is happy since we dump them in the bush for bait for him.

The ducks have returned like last year and something is going to have to change. They live in the power plant cooling ponds at night and in our corn during the day. They strip cobs perfectly clean and just leave turds behind. Got some hunters coming out this weekend and there’s thousands of the pests for them to pick from. The power company and Alberta environment are talking to see what options there might be available. Not sure what exactly to do about this………….


The calves and bred heifers are cleaning up the field pretty good since there’s so little snow. I’m supplementing with barley while they’re cleaning it up. A couple more days and I’ll have to get the next field ready for them. Getting more head days/ acre than we expected which is a pleasant surprise.


Kinda been looking for a backup for the main field tractor when my friend mentioned this one selling today at a estate sale. Dad was in town and ran over to Vegreville at the last minute to check it out. Comes with a blade for packing silage and a pto for a grain cart possibly down the road. Quite the operation at 25,000 acres and the employees were very helpful in answering questions. One young guy was telling my dad that he’s not sure what he’s going to do for work after the sale. I told dad maybe bring him back here with the tractor 😉

Kinda nice finally getting almost all the critters out on the corn. Feels nice to mostly work while the sun is up and slow down a bit. Replacing old power poles in the yard, checking/ feeding cows, and playing mechanic is on schedule for the next while here. Time to go find a tree for living room too.

Hey, woodland nice tractor.

We did the deal the thumb was on when we started the deal. The guy and the dealer got into a pissing match over the last $10000 and the contractor took his thumb off and lines.

When it arrived at the main site Monday the thumb was missing and the guy had his new hoe.

Lines will be back on I just have to get a thumb made up or build one myself this winter.


Back before the 80s, we were deep banders in fall then when we switched we switched hard everything over to Anhydrous on the drill. Worked awesome.

Except for this year but our problem was supply last fall I do have a DT that is smaller and we do have an extra controller so would have been able to get on DT. You would get one or two tanks and that's it since the company changed hands and wasn't loading up. I looked into Richardsons bringing Juice and they were just as bad.

So the income tax deduction I really didn't need this big is now big.

In your initial post you quote anhydrous at 2400 a ton. Then in this post you put the Anhydrous price at 1808. I haven’t bought Anhydrous since 2005 so I apologize if this question sounds silly, is Anhydrous sold in an imperial ton or metric tonne? Looking at average U.S. retail at 1313(according to Dtn) that translates to roughly $1880 cad per metric tonne. So just curious what the price of Anhydrous is. Hearing from $1280 to $1350 a tonne for Urea for Feb. delivery.

Rp pulled out of nh3 here years ago, to much like work. As did almost everyone, have nutrien and ufa and no one has any concept keeping you running. Nutrein 10 years ago wanted my money in Feb and wont supply me with as much as a o ring, I took the nh3 off my cultivator.
