John Barlow has been told to talk about PEI potatoes to embarrass the liberal PEI MPs that won't so the CPC can pick up 4 seats there.
Top of list at ag committee was BC floods and PEI potatoes .
No mention of prairie farmer and ranchers concerns. Not a word .

The great fertilizer extortion is the beginning of agenda 2030 for ag. Want farmers to use less? What simpler way than to make it unaffordable.

Unlike most, I don't see conspiracies behind everything, and I can follow the logic behind why Nitrogen on the world scale, and to a smaller degree Phosphate in North America, prices are increasing.
What is not as clear, is why Potash should be following along? It is not as if one is a subsitute for the other, and farmers will increase K when N or P get too expensive. As would be the case with feed grains for example.Last edited by AlbertaFarmer5; Dec 20, 2021, 12:51.

But how many of those stocks are already spoken for in other parts of the world, or more specifically, into the US, to replace the product already displaced by disruptions in the rest of the world. Definitely not a western Canadian story if we were an island unto ourselves.

I always get a kick out people saying world markets as an excuse for higher prices.
Gasoline is quite a bit less in Saudi Arabia but that doesn't affect our fuel prices here.
Fertilizer is made in the middle of the prairies and the fact only potash leaves for overseas export.
Potash is controlled by collusion amongst the major players in both North America and Ukraine.
Phosphorous is controlled by Mosaic and they won a ruling to implement tariffs on Russian and Morrocan phosphate.
For some reason phosphorous can't be brought in Canada without going through he states.
And we wait for the american farm groups to get their Dept of Justice to look into pricing.
The competition bureau here doesnt even get a call about it.
