    Malt Barley

    Bit of Australian self promotion.
Used to be viewed here in oz for many years our malt Barley is best in world closely followed by Canadian malts. Way way Back I think it was called Harrington was our main competitor.

Err has something changed on agriville can seem to hot link anymore? Computer gurus here point me in right direction.

Re barley my ranch this week just gone harvest load 60t road train in paddock trucked to port 2 hour journey tested and loaded straight over side of a vessel. Easy as. Guessing bound for Saudi Arabia not sure.

    Anyway here’s a link.

Is the oat fallout of any concern for grain markets as a whole , would think not or hope not.

        Trades independently of wheat?

        Our morning comment here.

CBIT Mch wht up A$2.94/t after early falls & then a recovery. Recent tenders bought 1.7 mill t of wht but US still seen as uncompetitive into Middle East & Nth Africa. Dryness in US Sth plains becoming more severe. Big Aust crop hanging over the market even with weather damage.

I think they’re all equally crap.

Been finding more and more ciders I enjoy though.

The malt company that we have dealt with most for the last 10 years is Canada Malt (owned by Australian GrainCorp) has farmers growing a lot of different barley varieties. The plan we deliver to has at least 4 or 5 different barleys coming in each going to different markets. AC Connect is our current barley, used to be Kindersley which I understand was for a China market. We try and keep our ear to the ground here as the maltsters change their barley requirements yearly. I must say this year there not near as picky as the crop was very poor with the drought and the feed buyers are paying pretty much the same as malt buyers. Current varieties in favor

I prefer the old tried and true styles, not the new fruity crafty beers for woke generation.

From what I see barley for next year doesn't compete favorable with many other crop choices. For cereals wheat and oats at this point have better pricing for next year. I like growing barley but one market guy that I fallow has barley near the bottom of the list in profitable crops for next year.

In this area the large farms have not grown wht for yrs.
Bly and oats, in rotation with canola.

With $10 oats, could be 50% of acres in NE.

Wrong, thats what you do when grain is tanked.
