    Chronic Canada

What was the effect of legalized marijuana?

Well normalized and greatly expanded. 25% of the country now as daily users. Covid probably added more.

Very high in the Maritimes, couldnt find the rest of the provinces but expect is super high in BC for sure.

Have another drink and celebrate the new year! Its after 5 somewhere.

There are likely a lot more alcohol abusers than weed abusers.

Alcohol causes more social and economic damage than weed. Many posters seem to like their drink so we wont talk about that will we.

Seems to be a several high profile Conservatives in Alberta and sasky who have a problem with drinking and driving and addiction. One just quit for drinking on the job.

But weed is the only legal substance problem? Right?

When the pot shops opened here it appeared every young skid came out the woodwork to buy some devils lettuce but really I don’t think it buggered any more up than was already buggered. Largely I don’t think the perceived market was there for the crap like the businesses jumping in figured. There is 10 weed shops in my city of 30000 along with the 30+ liquor stores and bars. Some shops have went bust and some have changed names. The industry overbuilt itself and is shrinking back to actual demand. Can argue the good and bad of the crap and use the straw man argument about booze being worse but it’s just another tax revenue stream and dries up crime revenues.
