I was just reading an article in the Edmonton Journal by David Staples about a year end interview with Jason Kenney. Much to my surprise Jason Kenney actually said something noteworthy. He was talking about how unrealistic the federal Liberal’s just transition plans are for Alberta and this is what he said(not an exact quote). “You can’t replace an industry that exports $150 billion a year by selling electricity to yourself.†Think about that, he correctly states that Alberta isn’t going to be exporting electricity. Oil and Gas is Canada’s #1 export. I will admit I haven’t agreed with Jason Kenney much lately but that one sentence is quite profound!

Keep in mind that this coming calamity is brought to you by the same folks who proclaimed that the budget will balance itself. So why not just sell intermittent electricity produced by Chinese components to ourselves and forget about exports.
What could possibly go wrong
Saudi Arabia and Russia will laugh all the way to the bank. As their budgets far more than balance themselves.
