Interest rates: up, up and away

Right now CIBC, one of the the big six, is offering 3.25% 5 year GIC. Forecast for an rate increase next week may make even better offers for deposits. Was always told that you get nothing for deposits but that is not bad as a risk free rate right now. In this area farmland did not even do that until the great covid hyper inflation of 2021. Check the FCC farmland values report for north central AB and you will see that this area was the poorest performing area for a number of years. If rates were to make it into the 5% area we could revisit the 80's.
