Tell me how this is going to improve our grain efficiency. Viterras prices have been pathetic this yr for the most part.
    Guess the big get bigger.
    Maybe Mayo will return.

Remember Viterra is 50% owned by Canada Pension Fund(40%) and BC pension fund(10%)

No, the pension plan investment boards are not involved in management although they likely had knowledge this deal was in the works

Who ultimately backs the pension funds?

              Crown corporations
CPPIB needs 4% for the next 75 years. They've been outdoing that.
I suppose if the whole thing collapsed our pension would be the last thing we'd be worried about

Now viterra can originate corn in the Dakota's themselves and ship it to their locations in western canuckistan without involving messy third parties. So from a business perspective likely some synergies here.

Do any farmers still have shares in Viterra or did they all get sold off?

I think Viterra shares went off the board in 2012

Read that it might help with north-south movement?
Hopefully prairie grain can go south and exported from US ports if necessary.

I don’t know who was hauling to
Then they were 75 cents off on canola
For much of the winter. Maybe the spring
Contracts but I can’t see much new crop.
