I went looking for agricultural forums where I could ask lots of questions and read opinions and methods of other farmers. Because I really didn't have anyone to ask in real life. No father to ask, no close neighbors trying to do what I am doing way out here, my education and work experience were not especially relevant to agronomy or marketing, growing up we grew very little grain, and with very low inputs, marketing was very secondary for my parents. I didn't even know what I didn't know.

So I found NewAgtalk. Learned a lot about marketing. Discovered that there isn't a lot of overlap between growing corn and soybeans in the midwest vs our crops and climates, so looked for something closer to home. Joined the combine forum for equipment related questions, a very welcoming and inclusive crowd for the most part. I refuse to discuss politics and divisive issues there, not desiring to burn bridges. Read this site for a while before joining. Not worried about burning bridges here, the posters whom I regularly clash with appear to possess a grand total of zero knowledge about agriculture, so no loss there.

And as Charles Adler used to say( back when he used to be entertaining), Learn a little, laugh a lot. That's why I'm here. Most posters provide info I can learn from, And Chuck is generous enough to provide plenty of opportunities to laugh at his expense. If anyone else gets a chuckle ( no pun intended) out of my humour, that is just a bonus.
Everyone gets a different take away from each person’s post. In this particular post AB5 what caught my eye was you and I share the same opinion on Charles Adler, “he used to be entertaining”, you said a mouthful there!!!

A5 You are not interested in respectful considerate discussion.

I have tried that and it didn't work.

From day one you have tried to shut down posters points of views you don't agree with.

Not a very Libertarian thing to do.
Chuck2 what I don’t get is you constantly disparage the Agriville site, you constantly name call and insult the intelligence of posters on Agriville but you keep coming back, my only question is why?

Can you please provide even a single example of me trying to shut down a poster?

Quite the contrary, I am one of the only posters who willingly engages with you, whereas almost every other poster keeps demanding that you should be kicked off.

I also seem to have missed yourt attempt at respectful considerate discussion. Was that the one about diarrhea? Or the post the other day where you wished Blackjack's mother to die alone in a dirty diaper? Or the one where you wished death upon people who aren't vaccinated? Or where you celebrated people dieing from forest fires? So many examples, I'm not sure which one you are referring to?

Can you tell us what you get out of this site? What have you learned? What relationships you have developed? What people skills or debating skills you have sharpened? Whose minds you have effectively changed, or examples of where your own mind has been changed by a discussion you have had on here?

Do you often encourage your own family or acquaintances to read your posts, and the responses? Are you proud of the way you treat other posters on here, would you want your former teachers etc. to see your behaviour?

The Ten Comments of Agriville written by AB5. Lots of fluff like a politician.

Ab5 you always like digging up past posts and threads. Why don't you do it this time and see which poster started the whole Covid Shitstorm after about dozen of us came out of the Agriville penalty box, you know the one you avoided.

Everybody was falling the rules set out by the Agriville Adm. We were discussing all kind of different topics being brought up on the Marketing thread. This poster came back and within two threads he was back on the Covid Topic. Much to the disgust of several posters who had enough of the Covid threads.

But, you won't do that because your a Fence Rider and the poster who ignored Rural Issues rule is not Agstar DLM, Chuck, or I.

              .

And if I were an admin as big wheel claims, I would have moved every covid thread back to where they belong. I don't have that power, and the actual admins don't seem to care to enforce their own rules. I'm not on a one man crusade. But it is a shame, good posters who were rejoining the discussion during the period of civility have gone quiet again. Marketing topics are lost in the noise.

What I can't understand is why all of those on the chicken little side of the debate refused to engage with the conspiracy theorists when they were posting in rural issues. Denigrating the posters the topics and the forum with every name in the book, not worth your time. But as soon as the debate moved back over here, they post without abandon again. What changed? Why is it acceptable to engage the very same posters, on the very same topics, with the exact same lack of civility in Commodity marketing, but not in Rural issues?

If and when I break my own rules. Please bring it to my attention. I tend to get caught up in the moment at times too.
Picking on Chuck doesn't count. I will continue to treat him with just as much respect as he has earned, with just as much respect as he offers other posters. No actually, I am incapable of lowering myself to that juvenile level.

Just like I thought you'd spin it around without addressing the initial question.

Much easier for you to see good posters leave Agriville then calling out your admiring debating Buddy.

Is it any wonder that DLM chewed you up like a piece of gum on the other thread.

Precisely who is my admiring debating buddy? The most common poster I debate here is chuck, but I can assure you there is no mutual admiration.

Once you push the opposition to obscurity your job is done.

“ What I can't understand is why all of those on the chicken little side of the debate refused to engage with the conspiracy theorists when they were posting in rural issues. “ In 1943 the following directive was issued to all communists in the United States. It read,
When certain obstructionists become too irritating, label them after suitable buildups as fascist or nazi or anti Semitic and use the prestige of anti fascist intolerance organizations to discredit them. In the public mind, constantly associate those who oppose us with those names which already have a bad smell. The association will, after enough repetition, become fact in the public mind. ”
If that was their goal, I think they failed miserably.
