Expand health care
Since the beginning all the restrictions and vaccines are to help make the hospital load more manageable.
So why are we not increasing enrolment in schools to get more nurses and doctors? Why not renting some of these empty warehouses to set up more hospital beds for those who need lesser care than a fully equipped hospital.
Lot more variants out there to cause future waves. Lets get a hospital and health care system that can stand mild waves of covid without shutting the businesses down each time. If unvaxed have a higher chance of taking up hospital space, so what if we have more beds. Smokers, drug overdoses, old people, over weight people etc all take up heath care resources and beds. Why are we picking on unvaxed people instead of drug addicts/fat people/old people? Right now these high risk groups all have equal rights and no restrictions as we have built a system around those risks.
Lets get a health care system built with more capacity and more people so burn out is not such a big problem. Even if covid ends with omicron, there are a huge number of people retiring in the next 8 years (so we need health care workers)and soon a huge wave of baby boomers will be needing old age care.
Quit wasting money on ad hock payments. Get more health care workers trained up and more hospital beds in big centers.
This is what the current protests should be promoting. Start spending our tax payer money smarter. Things would be wide open if we had played this smarter the last 2 years (or only short shut downs may have been needed).
