    1) Im reasonably certain Coutts/Sweetgrass is the only authorized port of entry for live animals in/out for AB. While that may not necessarily have direct issues with regards to food security here in AB, it certainly affects feedlot bottom lines. One would also hope that for the sake of "animal welfare" anything live currently sitting in line has been allowed to turn around and offload at point of origin.

    2) Coutts is the only crossing that allows 62,500kg weight limits from Shelby MT, into AB. Shelby being on the BNSF mainline is currently the rail terminus for a pile of bovine feed that is coming into AB feedlots via truck. Also a respectable amount of fertilizer comes off the BNSF line into AB as well. All again, at 62,500kg, rather than any other port of entry which would only allow ~48,300kg gross.

    3) The majority of the fresh produce for grocery stores in AB, is coming up I15, and across at Coutts via california or negalis mexico.

While I do not necessarily disagree with the motives of the protesters, It's hard not to notice that Albertans are going to suffer the brunt of this. Now perhaps this is the pressure necessary to change a few minds in Edmonton, but it certainly isn't raising any eye-brows in Ottawa, or anywhere else in the country.
Can't argue with any of your logic. I wasn't aware of the unique attributes of this crossing. Although a local I talked to today insists that most of these loads can come through at other crossings, but would require a broker and more paperwork, any truth to that?

But as Willie Sutton supposedly said when asked why he robs banks,
because that is where the money is at".

If they are going to attract any attention, they need to cause some disruption. Parking in a farmers field, or at the legislature doesn't disrupt anything, they could be ignored indefinitely.

Legault realizes that politicians must listen to the people and he vows to unify his province. He says that his Unvax Tax was divisive and did nothing to unify citizens - actually the polls told him that.

You guys that wanted the army out to remove the native blockades you seem pretty quiet now.
The economy was chugging along just fine mandates and all, but a small % want to throw a wrench in that , over mandates that will likey expire soon anyway.
Look everybody is a little bitchy, but a tantrum will not solve a thing.

Tell me you are fringe without telling me.
Well If kenny moe and Ford are not right wing anti vax, anti mandate , anti mask enough for you.
        Maybe you need an adolf

Plus it turns out that the pic of Terry Fox statue , holding the pride flag and the guy holding a convient liberal sticker was photo shopped,
Like could it get more pathetic than that.
Pretty apparent facts never were a factor, after Trump made a virus political. ,

every day more story's of the unvaxed loseing the battle at rate 67 times higher than the vaxed.

But oh no Trudeau hate is more important. ( anyone can see that)
I do not like him either but it seems kinda dumb to risk dieing to prove it.

And your own conservative premiers had to manage the loads on the hospitals, Even they could see that. Why can't you?
Sure some regulations are stupid , but the general policy was the best we could do. Get over it.

Thats when I still cared about Canada. I dont anymore. Natives can block whatever they want I am with them. They cant do any more damage than our absolute fck up for a PM.

In case you didnt notice, the natives were fighting for their issue. Truckers are fighting for every Canadians rights.

              Big diff.

The longer the protests and blockades go on the further support for them falls.

When Doug Ford and Jason Kenney are telling people to go home you know that the vast majority of people are not supporting the blockade.

Its really hard to argue for freedom when you are taking away other peoples freedom by blocking streets, highways and border crossings.

But the extremists who think public health policy should be decided by the same people who would block hospitals and harass medical health officials and now block streets and highways will learn a hard lesson.

Face it chuck, you will love to see some truckers taken away in cuffs just like those terrorist farmers that tried to sell wheat at that port 30 yrs ago.

I care exactly zero for Toronto and Ottawa. They gave us this, they can take a little heat back.

But I agree with chuck for once, these demonstrations have a short shelf life unless they get organic growth from the general population. France had yellow vest protests for a year before covid and now 29 weeks since covid and it didnt change a thing in that marxist hellhole.

Legault changed course because he saw Quebecers protesting.

Need to see if the truckers can attract more to the cause this weekend if not, she is a wash.

Now that the truckers will spread their joy in Toronto and the 905 suburbs where there are more votes to scare away from the Conservatives, they might as well be campaigning for Trudeau!

Jazz, the police or army are not going to end this. It is going to be public backlash. It is already happening in Ottawa. Truckers there have finally pissed off Grandma. 3 elderly woman stoood out on the road way and blocked the trucks from driving by their neighborhood. And that has prompted more public backlash. #GoHomeTruckers is now trending in Ontario. Trucks are being pelted with eggs and paint. And you think the cops are going to help truckers now. What support the convey had is rapidly being replaced with public anger. Again, all due to no organization and no exit plans by truckers.

And the same thing will happen at Coutts. The public will have finally had enough and they will be the ones taking action against truckers in the convoy. It wont be eggs, it will be blockades of the homes and farms and business of those blocking the highway. People will say if you won't let us drive public highways why should we let your wife and kids at home drive on roads or why should we let feed or fuel trucks into your farm yards or why should we support your business or let others in to your businesses if you wont let our suppliers support us. And what will the truckers be able to do to help their wives and kids and protect their farm yards while they are miles away in the middle of some blockade. I fear the backlash will be worse than the blockades.

Be careful of criminal charges boys (assault, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice). Do not say a word-notta word unless it is recorded. Protect your own names with silence. You don’t want to ruin your lives and the lives of your families. That’s my fear for my friends who are fighting for our rights and freedoms. Tom, you remember the name? (Andy McMechan? maybe, name escapes me, spent long, lonely jail time when farmers tried to take a few loads of wheat over the border). They’ll make an example of a few protesters -should be legal council out there.i remember this poor farmer from Manitoba and don’t want history to repeat.

                              Agree. Limited shelf life.

Point has been made both ways. Nothing more to gain.

                              Country should split up.

Are you going to split Alberta too?
