Were they empty promises? Many have been critical of the money going to First Nations? So which is it?
No money is going there and it should be or is money going there and something else a reason why
There is no clean water? Politicians want to spin this but the question I ask has to be answered before we deal with the solution.
    Would you agree?

re Braveheart comment about press reminds me of a line of Churchills : something to the effect "Never get in a pissing match with anyone that buys ink by the gallon"

There was no spokesperson at a mic. No press releases. Media is your friend in these situations as they deliver your message broadly. The convoy alienated their best resource.

The only ones to succeed this weekend were the Liberals unfortunately. Mad Max and OToole and the rest of the fractured Conservatives floundered trying walk a fence that was too electrified for either to stay on.

I think you mean the BEST example on how to fail. Commander Thornton explains.

It will accomplish one thing for sure. The Conservatives will never again have a majority.

This is a vaccination mandate - not a restrictions protest.

They did such a bad job they don't even know what they are actually protesting about, and also completely failed to put a face on it, create any human emotion story, or any of the very basic requirements of even a marginally successful protest. Exactly as Braveheart said.

Instead they have portrayed a bunch of rednecks disrespecting everything they come in contact with. Dancing on the soldiers grave, waving Nazi flags, vulgarity, stealing food that was for the homeless, maskless shopping pushes. Ya, they're doing a great job.

The antivax crowd is a minority.

I agree and feared this would transpire to some degree. That said a lot of this was over played by media and counter protesters are a factor. The protesters snubbing the media and lack of a leader and clear message doesn’t help neither. I’ve been following different people down there, and them confronting people carrying stars and bars etc. Lots of them are masked up and leave when confronted. You may not agree with the protests and maybe all out hate these guys but do you think it’s messed up when people purposely try to discredit the protest with racist symbols? I worry more about the lengths our government will go to hold power. That is what we should all worry about.

And the minorities were allowed to do their thing in the last few protests...so what makes this one different?

This thread is about how terrible of a job they have done and what they could have done.

By Jazz's response - even he agrees.

The two things that have caused this protest and division among Canadians is not so much our current PM, he merely took advantage of having a name that Ottawa,Toronto and Montreal liberal voters had fond memories of and yes he has numerous flaws but if the two culprits below were fixed he wouldn't have been allowed to hone his flaws for 6 years and as a result would be just another guy on the street with a $8 million trust fund.

The first culprit is the disproportionate representation from Ontario and Quebec, this is criminal in its self and a sure way to eventually destroy a country. This allows questionable leaders to run the country with only 1 in 3 people voting for her or him, good god even grade 6 students picking a team captain knows that is deeply flawed.

But hands down the most divisive culprit is the media that only reports one side of a news story, and I don't care if its left or right wing, keep politics out of it. Keep it clean and simple just tell both sides of the story using facts, if a PM's policy is going off the rails, question him hard and relentless, if he's a liar call him out on it, public embarrassment can be humbling and do away with the god dam opinions from guests, if I need an opinion fix I'll go to the bar, yes i realize division is a tool the current PM uses but if the media had done their job 6 years ago we would have a different PM today. I would love to list all the mistakes of the last 6 years but it's water under the bridge.

The media should truly be ashamed, learn how to run your business like you were competing for market share, someday your subsidies will end . . . you know you can do better, be that breath of fresh air that Canada needs right now.

And as Forrest said, "that's all I have to say about that".

Restrictions are Provincial. So blame your own Premier. Or in the case of Moe - I don't think he could have done a more uninformed hick tweet about vaccines in support of the rednecks - but hey, you guys love that stuff so why not.

Mandates are Federal - like the cross border vaccine mandate. 98% of Federal employees are vaccinated.

As far as minority protests, yes, me and my LGBTQ community is very familiar with them.

Watch video of Chinese woman who drove from Montreal to support the truckers.

In video, she thanks a black truck driver for fighting for freedom and warns of China and communists.

So then how come you aren't gleefully reporting how they were cleaning the terry fox statue today? If you are gonna report the bad, why not report the good? Those darn peaceful protesters are so horrible....horrible I say!

Yeah...and next you are going to say that the federal government doesn't pressure the provincial governments to step in line....

You never heard of first impressions have you?

If its horrible, it leads. Terry Fox statue - I mean come on - invokes an emotion, puts a face to it (Terry's), is a human story of courage and honor.

Stealing food from a homeless shelter. Move the camera to the homeless people - a face. See the hunger - a human story.

Pan to the redneck carrying the Fack Trudeau sign, throw in some anti-semitism, some Nazi signs, dancing on a grave of the unknown soldier, parking on a cenotaph.

                                They were reporting the news.

                                Are we learning yet?
