There is still a perception that if you hold personal viewpoints, that means you are going to impose them on all Canadians. In reality, only liberals do that.
So you end up with scheer. He believes in not killing babies before birth. This is pointed out by the media, and the left as somehow brutally out of touch. He fails to explain CLEARLY, that his personal thoughts will not affect policy. Harper was able to do that well. Harper won. Scheer couldn’t recover.
Preston manning had a whole chapter in his book, on the ability and the need to separate ones faith from serving politically in Canada. Our society is scared of these debates, and therefore no one is going to reopen them, despite the left always using it as a boogey man. Despite the left being the ones who bring their personal beliefs, or non beliefs I should say, into politics.
Who withheld government funding from christians, implicitly because of what they believe in? Trudeau.
Did Harper withhold funding from atheists based on what they wouldn’t attest to? Can you even imagine?
You believe in God, no money for you. Trudeau. This actually happened.
You don’t believe in God, no money for you. Harper? This never happened.
So the new leader, if socially more conservative, has to come out swinging and make their views clear, and explain how this will not affect their policy. That Canadians are not going back to the 1950’s. Explain it multiple times, repeatedly.
But first, the CBC and the msm needs to lose their cash, because I blame them almost entirely, on making this the wedge issue, non issue that freaks enough Canadians out to swing the tide to the liberals.
It’s really that simple. Harper had 9 years to end abortion. He had 9 years to enact his “hidden agendaâ€. And he did nothing of the sort. Canadians are not Americans. We have a much more shallow Bible believing history. In my view abortion can not be touched. Extremely sad personally, but it is where we are right now as a nation.
Me? I would love to ban abortion and gay “marriageâ€, and get our countries morals back on track. But that is not something to be done with legislation. Those are my personally held beliefs. You don’t impose personally held beliefs on the citizenry. I understand that. Manning understood that. Harper understood that.
Now, if we could just get liberals and the media to understand this, we could have conservatives continually in position to form government.
Most Canadians are conservative in most things. They simply don’t know it because of the fake wedge issues driven in by the left and the media.
Leslyn Lewis talks about removing abortion based on gender. The vast majority of Canadians do not believe in gender selective abortion. Just one example of what I mean. But the left and the media will twist this into being out of touch…Last edited by chuckChuck; Feb 3, 2022, 08:51.

The liberals “call out†a single nazi flag, and a confederate flag, both of whom were not welcomed by anyone at the convoy.
But their leader wears Blackface, gropes women, and he gets a free pass. The liberal way.
