I always wonder where the money comes from.
The first one around here came from Vancong with lots of money. He grew up a couple of miles from here and never left with any money for sure. Worked as an investment advisor.
Initial purchases were more than reasonable as land had been on the market a few yrs as locals were not very profitable at the time.
Ever year he bid about 10 to 20% higher for new buys. So his investors made 20% appreciation on thier previous purchase. Kind of a ponzi?
Accumulated a nice offering and flipped it to another group who did the same thing and flipped the whole thing again. Everybody makes money so far.
When Bill Gates buys his land it is years of digging to find he's the buyer.

The end of that article more or less has a same but bigger storey about land flipping amoung big investor groups.

Black rock is doing the same thing with housing. Buy 50 houses 1 at a time in the same neighborhood bid a bit higher for each one, raise the comparables and then unload.

Financial gentrification and nothing new gets built.

When 12 Ontario families (amish ) bought 3 farms that woke up the locals and the price of dirt has been going up steady ever since.

At least I presume Amish are living there, building enough high value enterprises which can support their families on that ground. Even Mennonites move into an area and do the same but contribute far more to the community at large than a carpet bagger like Anjelic or other investment concerns.
