The guys that have any left are holding for 60 cents.
I let some go a while back (didn't get 60, but damn close!!).
It stores for ever and it could be another dry year?
Here there is dirt showing in worked areas and some hill tops in the barley stubble are bare after the last few days.
Very few guys left that grow consistent acres of canary year after year and/or put the inputs in to get a decent yield.
So without decent timely rains I don't see production next year increasing over the dismal 2021 yields??
I also do not see crop insurance "what if" #'s being favorable to Canary compared to wheat, canola, lentils, peas or even barley that can all handle dry ALOT BETTER than canary!!

Barley handles drought better than canary?

Crop insurance coverage for canary “should” be quite high but we’ll find out in a few weeks.

For me barley has done much better than canary in a drought.
Wheat is far better than barley.
Canary will not handle spring frost very well either.
Canary has the real advantage in a wet harvest or early snow/winter.

We are 45 cents del to Saint Gregor or Kindersley. Can be delivered prior to spring thaw issues.


Market is not very exciting on old crop. In fact almost zero sales going on. We are 36 del on new crop with act of God.
