Seed shortages and extreme fertilizer prices will prevent snow canola snow rotations . Also the limit on credit and herbicide will cap canola acres as well as still very dry conditions still in a huge area of western Canada

What are the latest updates on Canola seed? I booked three separate places last fall. 2 keep reassuring me supply is fine. The third can't quite guarantee, as they have already drastically cut back allocations on most other varieties.

Do we have a handle on how many canola acres are even potentially possible this year based on seed supplies?

Allocations up till know seem to be fine . Contra seed production looks favourable.
But there will be no extra acres available and near zero for reseed . So be careful on early seeding might be prudent.

Not familiar with the term contra? Is that South American seed supplies? Did the market signal get there in time for them to increase production for our spring seeding? How much of our seed actually comes from there, I was under the impression that they were mostly doing seed increase, rather than commercial scale seed production, or is that wrong?
