          There isn't a chance in hell that the USA would take a separate western Canada. They like it the way it is now. Canada is a branch plant economy they have a lot of control over. Remember what they did to the cattle industry? They have Canadian oil as a captive supply. That's why they fund environmental activism against pipelines. The auto sector which used to be a large part of Canada's economy has been choked down with incentives to manufacture in the USA. There is no economic reason for them to adopt any part of Canada. Secondly, if they supported or adopted Canadian separatists they would have a problem within their own borders. There are separatists in the USA, notably in Texas and California. Nobody in Washington wants to grant legitimacy to American separatists. The wingnuts in Idaho would love to have more reason to stir up crap. There's as much chance of being part of China or Russia as the USA.
