I would agree PT the first needed it. The problem facing the cabinet was this. Ontario said they lacked the resources to deal with the blockade and attack on elected officials even after calling a provincial emergency. So what do they do? They request help Federally whose hands are tied as they don't direct not only the police in Ontario - but anywhere. They make laws. That is all they do. Enforcement is the job of Police.

3. For the purposes of this Act, a national emergency is an urgent and critical situation of a temporary nature that

(a) seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Canadians and is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it, or

(b) seriously threatens the ability of the Government of Canada to preserve the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Canada

A temporary nature - exactly like an illegal occupation with purpose to overthrow the elected government to be put to an end with enough resources and tools and power to get tow trucks and whatever is needed to end it.

The emergency debate in Parliament is merely scripted theatrics. By end of today Ottawa will look very different. Most likely, there will not even be a need to debate as it will all be over and rescinded.

So what happens if after all this, they don't find large caches of weapons, or any credible evidence of an organized attempt to over throw the government?

What are the legal implications, and will we hear any apologies from the peanut gallery on here and in the media?

And if they do, I will admit that I was wrong about the peaceful protest, and extremely disappointed it wasn't successful...

I don’t think most Canadians realize that almost 70 cents of every dollar that governments collect goes to health,education and social programs.And these three bring in zero dollars of revenue.This also increases every year.This system isn’t sustainable. I live in a town of 350 , we have a full hospital that is not busy and a school k-12 with 78 students. Unfortunately we need more closures and almagamations to try to control large future tax increases
