    For Albertan's Consideration

This twitter thread by an Edmonton doctor intrigued me. Are Albertan's in fact still fighting the NEP the same way some farmers on here are still dredging the fight up the CWB?

    @TRexMD780
Let's talk about the hatred towards Trudeau a little bit here. I doubt this Tweet will get much attention but I want to air this frustration I have, particularly with #Albertans over the age of 50 who are triggered into rage everytime you say "Trudeau". TLDR: Get over it

I grew up in a conservative home, surrounded by those who worked in O&G and saw the fall out of the National Energy Program. I have heard the stories over & over of the economic collapse it created in Alberta. I have been raised with the dogma that Trudeau = Satan

Justin Trudeau arrived and this man was doomed from Day 1 in Alberta. How many times have I heard "he's a draaammmma teacher 🙄", and yet these same people voted in a Bible college dropout?

How many times have I heard "He only got elected b/c of his name. Them Easterners just love the Trudeaus, thats why they voted for him", and yet our current premier is under investigation still by the RCMP for how he was elected within his own party

How many times have I heard "Trudeau hates Alberta and is going to drain us dry of our wealth", and yet conservative govts in Alberta have consistently burned our money like they were at a strip club for decades, never bothering to save it & driving us in to the ground

Now I'm hearing "Trudeau is responsible for the Ottawa blockade crisis" or "Why didn't Trudeau just talk to the protestors and come to an agreement?" or "Trudeau's vaccine mandates are the reason for all this drama & division, it's all his fault!" Sorry folks: you're wrong

Trudeau is not responsible for the lack of clearing of the blockade. The federal govt has no jurisdiction on clearing out the streets of a municipality. They also had no influence on Coutts or the Ambassador Bridge. Those are under MUNICIPAL & PROVINCIAL govts

Trudeau also could not negotiate with the protestors. Who was he going to meet up with? Have tea with Tamara Lich? Drink a beer with Pat King? Invite the GG and they could all draft a plan on a napkin for Trudeau's resignation & a coup d'etat, plus some port-a-potties?

Maybe he could have dropped the vaccine border mandate. Sure. But Biden is like "Cool, cool, IDGAF". Did we all forget that part? That a border has *two sides* and we don't control the Americans?

And before you say "Trudeau could have forced Biden to change his policy", let me stop you there before I start laughing hysterically. With what, folks?
JT: "Change your policy, or we won't export maple syrup"
    JB:....
We can't make Americans do anything

And finally - if you have an issue with mandatory vaccine policies that caused people to lose their jobs, why are you pointing the finger at Trudeau? These policies were largely implemented by employers, in reaction to *provincial mandates* Your beef is with the prov govt.

If you're mad that you didn't get to fly to Waikiki this yr because you're unvaccinated, okay, go yell at Trudeau. And WestJet. But the day to day issues of the unvaccinated was largely dictated by municipal & provincial mandates. So why aren't you yelling at @jkenney?

The hatred against Trudeau in Alberta is mostly an unjustified "feeling", driven by hot rage over Trudeau Sr. It makes us look like the angry rednecks that frankly, maybe we are. And it's being used against as as a weapon by Conservatives like Jason Kenney.

Wake up #Alberta Stop letting Jason Kenney gaslight you by blaming the feds for everything. Stop believing that Trudeau wants to burn Alberta to the ground. Stop playing into the decades-old narrative that Alberta is a backwards conservative province

I'm not a fan of Trudeau & didn't vote for him. But at least I know why. I have reasons, like my current MP fits my values better and I am upset about his backtracking on electoral reform. I don't hate him b/c his daddy threw my family under the bus in the 80s

So get over it Alberta. Your fight is not w/Trudeau. It never has been. You need to fight the institutions that have kept us hog-tied to O&G for decades. Open your eyes & realize we dug our own grave w/decades of incompetent prov leaders Take it to them in 2023

I don’t buy this woke misguided diversion… attempting to justify the fascist degrading of our Canadian culture and consciousness

Academic Vegetation with these bitter memories of the 1970’s, 50 years ago….

Mercy… PM Justin Trudeau born on Christmas Day… 1971… had everything an ‘Elite’ could be given, good nutrition, family like his half brother Kyle Kemper who is a grounded freedom loving soul…

Please lay the fruit of PM Trudeau’s racism, fascist, bigotry laden arrogance… at the feet of this example of misguided elitism … that this week would have even made his own father roll over in his grave.

    Cheers, nothing new here!

Simple question Dml, is this your way of defending Trudeau or insulting Albertan’s or both?!

        To answer your question.
If you're over 60 it's quite possible. And it's been handed down.
That name carries a lot of baggage in these parts.

I agree the east buggering the west narrative is used by western politicians to some degree to shore up power. Kinda like Trudeau scaring everyone with the climate crisis or a nazi around the corner. These are bs wedge issues. Only problem is Trudeau governments actions are mean spirited to anyone who doesn’t conform to their ideology. Days of Chrétien or Martin there wasn’t this bs. They led, dealt with stuff, and stayed out of the way of development for the most part.

              Went to her twitter feed.
Same woke elitist shit all day every day.

The only difference in this one was the bullshit about how she was raised.

I was raised a socialist like everyone of my generation in Saskatchewan.

              Does that make me woke?

Dml do you know what the NEP was designed to do?
Let me help you out. The same thing the carbon tax is doing.

It’s a wealth transfer scheme plain and simple. Even Manitoba sucks on the fruits of O&G.

All that manufacturing, hydro, aerospace and maritime EI programs down east are paid for by AB.

You aren’t outraged because you are not educated about it.

Do you know what heavy differentials are?

You can't tell me Justin wasn't raised without some prejudices against the West.
                    He's outed them in interview.
The CWB will live in memory until the last one dies. So too with Trudeau haters.

90% of the carbon tax is being to returned. I got an $800 credit. I paid $220 on my gas bill and nothing on my solar electricity.

If you want to talk about a wealth transfer, the price of oil has more than doubled along with oil company profits. The transfer of wealth from consumers to oil companies makes the carbon tax look like a drop in the bucket.

Then I suggest you teach your disciples to buy shares in oil companies and share the wealth.

I wrote a big long reply but don’t think it’s worth the energy it may take to deal with potential replies. Maybe I’ll feel more energetic later LOL

More succinctly put, yeah AB has its issues but the doctor is confusing those issues with what’s going on right now. Right now is not a provincial leader **** up, it’s not about O&G and it’s not even about Trudeau disliking Alberta or East vs West.

Right now it is Trudeau. It did not start out as his fault, but I fully believe where we are today is his fault.

And prior to this I was not against Trudeau. I wasn’t his most avid supporter but feeling he is at fault is not a result of a massive chip on my shoulder fed to me by my grandparents while they babysat me.

A month ago it could maybe be said a lot of the people involved were carting around baggage about O&G and AB being a less favoured child. Today, that’s an ignorant perspective to take, it’s grown past that.

It might be considered prudent to hear what grandparents have say, as well.
