If you tried even a 10% of the shit the occupiers in Ottawa or Coutts, or on the Ambassador bridge got away with in an actual dictatorship, you would have disappeared without a trace.
For F***sakes we just had a free election 6 months ago and another could be called anytime the members of all the opposition parties disagree with the government. The government of Canada let a relatively small group of protestors drive freey right acoss the country andoccupy our capital city and border crossing and disrupt fellow citizens and the economy for 3 weeks before moving in and removing the protestors without any killing, deaths, or even serious injury. And you think Canada government is violent or a dictatorship? Give your head a shake!
This has to be the most coddled, self centered statement ever posted here, and sadly it reflects many of the posters. ME ME ME, You want ____ but you do not want to have to do the work of selling you desires to everyone else in the country which is what happens in a democracy. No, you prefer extortion and when that does work you whine and cry and claim you are victims. Maybe grow up and actually see the world.Last edited by dmlfarmer; Feb 22, 2022, 14:07.

Agree with you DML on the violence scale the Ottawa protest barely registered on both sides. Not one cop car even got burnt.
No weapons caches announced.
Do you think the potential long term damage to our economy by enacting the EMA and saying they are going to be seizing bank accounts for weeks to come was worth the ability to force tow truck driver compliance
You do understand the effects of a brain drain?

The real damage done to this country has been loss of faith by the business community that Canada can deliver due to blockades. It wont be people leaving it will be companies looking at alternative suppliers.
And that cost is so much more than tow trucks.

Trudeau cancelled at least $250B in projects with a stroke of a pen. At least another $100B in investment capital fled before covid.
Make an argument, but dont be a hypocrite.

Your right. The brain drain happens when the a opportunity is better elsewhere because of government policy or poor economy.
Lived with it in Saskatcewan for generations while we collected equalization.
We thought we lived in a poor province but we just had poor government.
