It followed consultation with the premiers. It gives tools, in a proportionate and responsible way, to the officers of jurisdiction to be able to end these illegal blockades.
This will be a moment that will be studied in the history books. What people will see is that the Conservatives never stopped playing personal partisan politics.""""""

I would say the Liberals and NDP never stopped personal partisan politics. Many have made it obvious that while they oppose the mandates or want a plan to end them and disapprove of the EA, they vote for them simply because their party does.

The Conservatives are just being the Conservatives.

For this reason alone I hope the Senate puts seriousness thought into a veto. If the HOC is voting, not in what they feel are the best interest of their constituents, but in the best interest of their party amidst obvious political games, then the Senate should be obligated to think outside of the pressure put on by party politics.

What I see in the senate is a bunch of rotting old boomers. I know how that vote is going to go. Hope I am wrong.

But the HoC has to debate and revote in 5 days again. Make Trudeau and Singh stand out there every week and defend this.

It is an emergency that allows politicians who created the emergency to take the week off??????

People dont realize what power the EMA gives a PM. He can close parliament, the senate, the SCC, suspend elections, investigate anyone and anything, make new legislation on a whim.

I suspect he suspends parliament before the revote.

Politicians carefully calculate every decision and probably the polls showed that a very limited short EA would be supported by a large majority of voters.

The CPC on the other hand is playing mainly to their base to deal with the bleed of votes to the farther right.

Its hard to argue against the EA when like Kenney, you asked the feds for more help to deal with the blockade at Coutts.

And in vote rich Ontario Doug Ford declared his own provincial state of emergency and was keen to crack down on the blockades and occupation in Ottawa.

The biggest political losers are some of the CPC leadership who looked like they supported illegal blockades and hurt their law and order image.

Standing with protestors who waved confederate flags and Nazi symbols is not a good look for a party that struggles to keep the lid on it's fringe elements.

I don't have a problem with the CPC criticizing the EA. However it looks disingenuous when they supported illegal blockades and did nothing to stop them. You cannot have it both ways. Either you support the rule of law or you don't.

NO DIFFERENT THAN with THE 'fictitious POWER' OF THE nonexistent CWB MONOPOLY.... THE PM HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO SHUT DOWN PROTESTS ON PARLIAMENT HILL OVER VACCINE MANDATES.

It looks disingenuous when YOU STILL support illegal SEARCH & SEIZURES and end of VALID LEGAL PROTESTS and DO nothing to CONTINUE ENCOURAGING THE PM stopping them MR blackSTAR.

So you support civil disobedience as long as you approve of it? Your arguments are a joke.

Grouping average, every day people just wanting to be heard in with those few and calling them all sorts of things in an effort to dismiss their views as valid is also not a good look.

Apparently it even leads to the requirement of an Emergency Act.
