A Colt 1911 has always been worth one Oz of gold.

Did ask a grain buyer if they did any contracts in $US. Figured that since they are selling in US anyways that they may settle in US as well. Said that up to now that he had never seen that happen. Was going to look into that possibility further. Right now the hottest currency out there is used pickup trucks or used tractors so maybe they will settle in that someday. Saw a 05 Duramax crew cab with 286000 on the clock for $25000 recently. Was getting used to seeing used Allis Chalmers or White tractors wanted ads(have an 8070 myself so can understand) but recently saw an ad for a Belarus 1500 wanted so used tractors are hot. The Belarus 1500 and 1770 model are actually Ukrainian tractors built in Kharkiv. Wonder a lot right now what the replacement for the loon will be.

Trade wheat for gold or silver. With how events are playing out it might be a good play. Now it’s just how do I pay cra my taxes with physical gold? Bringing in fertilizer I priced a while back. Will be 55 to 60% of usual rate but costs more for this than last years 100% rate. Fuel looks to be approaching double as well. I am no economical wizard here but the tangibles rise in value vs the fiat currency tells me a reckoning is coming for the intangibles. All the years commodities were on the poop list getting beat up on markets while equities in intangible or frivolous pursuits held more value made me wonder about the day it would change. Being I am a beef producer I worry about peoples ability to afford high quality beef as it is becoming a luxury item. Damn why does a person think?

              I looked.

1911 Government by Colt is about $1850 usd. Can't buy one now as everything like that is sold out.

First order for 45 ACP in 1894? For $17.50ea. At that time a Double Eagle $20 coin weighed an oz.

A good 1911 war relic about 1942 brings about $6000.

                I occasionally collect Colt autos.
Model 1900 was the first Colt auto model.
The first year for Model 1911 was 1911.
First model for 45 Automatic Colt Pistol, 1905 in 1905
First Army contract of 200 with 2 revisions of 1907.
Adoption by Army 1911 standardized revisions.
Change to 1911A1 designation with revisions, 1926.

Values dictated by scarcity, condition, provenance and country you're standing in.

The Gold analogy is interesting and loosely follows inflation in all things in last 110 years?
An original pristine pre 12 finish more dazzling than gold, but much more scarce.

From 1933 to 1974 it was against the law for a US citizen to own gold.
