FREEDOM WHEAT

Wheat grows across this vast, great land. All it asks for is the proper soil, adequate rainfall, and a suitable growing season.

Very soon ALL Canadians who carefully raise this staff of life will embrace and enjoy the freedom of not only watching it grow, but also deciding what, when, where and how to market the fruits of their labour.

Canada today does not allow the rays of freedom to shine evenly across the land. FREEDOM WHEAT is about knocking down the shadows that keep certain parts of our country in the darkness of government control.

In the month of June we will learn how FREEDOM WHEAT from western Canada becomes FREEDOM FLOUR in Ontario before being artfully baked and launched as FREEDOM BREAD across Canada. It is a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit that built this country and a rally call to those who want to return Canada to a country that champions freedom and honours those who fought and died for it.

June 6th is the 60th anniversary of D-day.

It is simply amazing to see the CPS Red fixed price contract at over $214/t... this is a crop that Alberta farmers have grown in the higher rainfall areas.

The work on market choice we are doing in Alberta has already paid off many times (this year alone on PPO Contracts)the little amount just spent by the Alberta gov. on promotion of market choice.

In 02-03 CWRS 13.5 was $250/t and CPS Red was $210/t. Now the CPS-CWRS spread has narrowed from $40/t to $22/t for the upcomming year's PPO contracts.


Freedom for wheat in the West IS on the way... and the CWB is already paying Alberta farmers more because they know they must to compete.

Thanks to all those who worked hard to bring these small but important incremental changes... for freedom.




The CWB needs competition to narrow basis levels and improve special IP wheat and barley contracts.

I was at a spring crop production meeting (300 people)and a Rep. for the CWB gave a talk about their programs and then took questions. One newer/larger farmer was asking some very basic questions and had to ask about 4 times before he got an answer he was satisfied he understood. I said to the guys I was with if they gave a test on this how many guys do you think would pass? One guy chucked and said 10% Another said we are going to soon have to have 6 or 8 farmers get together and hire someone to deal with the programs and market our grain for us.
The answer to me is payment on delivery. If guys want to sell off the combine let them, and pay them out, at a greatly reduced price. The guys that can wait a few months for a better price will get it, he can pay himself for his bins and his management.
