This plan to move product from western Canada to Churchill bypassing Ontario and Quebec's sacred soil while lowering CO2 by providing natural gas instead of coal to the world is fatally flawed, it drips of common sense and logic. Completely forbidden in Canada at this point in time.

Not intending to turning this into a CWB debate.

I won't argue your comments, but will say the CWB railed grain from Churchill to either Thunder Bay or Vancouver costing farmers many dollars instead of just opening more quota for the grain they needed at the ports. Its a viable port but not until graincos buy into it AKA subsidized substantially into using it.

This Ukraine issue / EU food and energy shortage may just be the spark.

About every 10 to 15 yrs people see Churchill as a great untapped potential that is a deepwater port only 550 miles from Tisdale.
No significant private money has ever been invested there since HBC used it as a fur trade post.
Was some economic activity as a military outpost 80 yrs ago.
CWB loaded a few cargos every year. Hauled in with old boxcars because only has light rail. Probably involved pork barrel maintenance contracts for political freinds.
To much baggage accumulated over the years for me to be a believer.

Remember those mini aluminum hopper cars the Government had built to run on the light rail?
They scrapped them out a couple of yrs ago.
One boondoggle after another when Government puts up all the cash.

Russia has built pipelines all over the arctic and the americans built across Alaska, and we cant get something going to Churchill? Are we builders in this country or are we sustainable bike path riders?

The corridor is already disturbed and partial infrastructure built. Its the only game we have.

Plus since Manitoba is broke, it could help them too. They will be going for equalization permanently now, Alberta and Sask might as well get something for their buck.

If people had some vision, they would make a 3 way deal. Import MBs cheap subsidized budget breaking hydro into Sask and pass it over into ABs grid in exchange for developing that export corridor.
