Freeze dirt to the disk might create big problems in the fall or early spring when the soil is cold.

That may well be an issue , could be a sweet set up for liquid N . But fertilizer and that many bearings might be an issue too
Be a fast efficient way to get N down though
        They should pull easy

Does anyone see any hope for 2023 fertilizer prices?

No, because the Fert Companies can throw a dart a board, and thats the price were ****ed.

Bourgault had a disc unit we considered at one point for fall applications and tame pastures The model is a 8925not sure if they make it anymore.

What I would love to find is a 65 ft colter system that I could put ammonia down at 15 in spacing and go about 8 mph.

Understand the Liberals have changed the small business threshold from 10-15 million to 10-50 million. Used to be that by the time assets of a corp reached 15 million small business allowance was completely gone. Now it will start being reduced after 10 million and gone at 50. If I read things right.

In a perfect world the disks would put the nh3 8 inches deep.
Salford 2100 series disk and shank units seem to be close to ideal

                        Disks,
                        - ground too hard, dry, wont go in
                        - too much straw, wont go in
                        - too many bearings
                        - the faster you go the more disk angle or weight you need to keep them in the ground

Only solution is narrow knife opener,
                        - pressurized system for consistency and early morning starts, cold weather applications ( ie snow on the ground)
                        - big tanks
                        - fall is the only time to apply nh3 or risk supply, weather, and price issues

What you want to do SF3 sounds appealing.
There have been a few attempts at coulter applicators for at least 30 yrs.
I don't see any big success there with NH3.
Big investment for a prototype unit.
