Was told that if you are stopped on a steep grade with trains and a 13sp you will smoke the clutch?
    It's a 9sp in low with a splitter on the top 4?

if youre clutch isnt set up perhaps...

Low on 13 is 12.31:1, L-Low on 18 is better at 14.40:1, but i seldom launched in that gear on even 7-8% grades as you struggled to gather enough momentum to even be able to grab the split from L-Low to H-Low. I regularly launched in H-Low which is 12.29:1 so very much the same as a 13.

No matter how you managed it, at 7-8% plus there was always a little polishing of the flywheel...

Only time the splits ever mattered to me when pulling the hills was finding a "sweet spot" that you could basically drop a brick on the pedal for 20 or 30 minutes and bang away at 17-1800.

Takes two bidders to make an auction.
Even Pete Rafter couldn't get that high.

Thing are more than crazy right now.
When covid started they though stimulus was needed to keep a bottom in the market.
        How will history see this?

What is so special about a truck with 1.5 million km?
          Class Pays!
Wonder if I polish all the chrome and give my Pete a fresh coat of black, if I could get 5 times what I paid for it.

New big rigs are way out of my price range so have no idea of availability or prices. Anyone know what a pete like that goes for new and what kinda wait time to get one? Like all things prolly can’t get one this year.

when checking sales, looks like Canadian trucks are not caught up to US trucks yet. the second truck has a few more options but not 75k! The cost of hauling is going up again!

Cousin bought a new KW w900 14 months ago loaded to the 9's, cost him $214. Custom trucker said the new pete he just ordered with according to him "modest options" cost him cost him $240. Which honestly seems incredibly cheap compared to what tractors cost and how much they have gone up comparatively. I'm am not sure on the timeline for delivery.

Why are 550 hp 4 wheel drive tractors 350000 more than 550 hp trucks, even when u price in the extra 55000 for rubber, an extra 60000 for the transmission, and I'm guessing 15000 for each heavier diff plus 55000 for hydraulic pumps. That adds up to only 200000 more for the tractor, I must be light on some or all of these numbers.

Because some guys are tripping over themselves to buy them .
All tractors seed at 4-5 mph regardless of what you pay for them . Each to their own I guess

Had a deere salesman tell me jd 4wds went up 8 percent this year, so a 640hp prices around 900 grand.
                      72 000.00 increase. Crazy

                          2018 versatile 4wd 520 was bought in fall of 2019 for 380 000.00.

Now a 2022 530 versatile can be had for around 505 000. Priced a month ago.

Still a lot cheaper than a deere.

                            For comparison's sake...

1994 9880 new holland 4wd with 400hp was somewhere around 140-150K at the time.
1994 W900 with a 400 cummins was in that 125-150 range depending on options.

And back then, there wasn't a lot of difference in the technology between the truck and the tractor. I'm right out of the loop on new, but it seems to me tractors have made a quantum leap since then, while trucks still use mostly the same powertrain components. Is that accurate?

                                Somewhat...

Drivelines from flywheel back are certainly beefier than they used to be. Transmission progress is likely somewhat similar as well... Not alot of new trucks are ordered with manual transmissions anymore. Engines have advanced quicker in commercial than the ag fleet because they were forced to. There's no "autosteer" in trucks yet, but tractors dont have collission avoidance systems with radars, individually controlled/actuated brakes. The adoption of "tech" however has likely been a greater driver of cost on the ag side than it has on the commercial side.
