35 million for 3 1/2 weeks seems high, I can't find any details or breakdown. Did Ottawa have to bring in officers from other cities right from the beginning of the protest or did they have enough of their own to cover the protest area. If they used their own, these officers would have been paid whether there were barbeques and T800's parked on the street or not and shouldn't be included in the total except for overtime.
Yes the last week would have been very expensive with extra officers, livestock, freight, hotel rooms and meals, but 35 million, you do the math. An average Ottawa police officer salary is $94,000.00
There was a time when journalists would do this for Canadians.

Just like everything else emanating from ottawa this is full of BS. First of all they did not need to spend extra on policing as no crimes were being committed: all policing was theater to make people think crimes were being committed to justify the actual crimes being committed by the police. Secondly: most people can't differentiate between fixed and incremental cost so they can spin any scary number they want to make the low information voter think that there was a huge cost incurred and justify the actual crime of illegal seizure of assets to pay for 'policing'. Mr Bell would be sharing a cell right now if there was justice in canuckistan.

Worry more about the usual shut down of the inquiry regarding the EMA.

Severe charges should be laid against those responsible for the Coastal Gaslink pipeline vandalism.
