    Farmers Fault?

Why is it farmers fault that our deficit was higher last year because of crop insurance payouts, and now we are being blamed for falling GDP?

Wasnt there a little thing called covid lockdowns in the mix? The drought didnt affect oil, or potash or uranium or restaurants etc

Every other govt blames everything on covid and Putin or climate change or china or inflation or Trump etc, yet for some reason, farmers get the blame here in Sask.

    The quick math says this.

    10 x 15 = 150 bucks and acre
    40 x 6 = 240 bucks an acre

Farmers are short 90 bucks an acre , yes insurance helps BUT the bigger picture says the reduced yields means less work for railways, interestingly less diesel to move the crop, but no one catches that.

Insurance money doesn't't make more work for the railways or trucking companies.

    The whole economy suffers.

While the fertilizer companies can charge more to make up for their losses , in the long run there will be an oversupply because I am not sure everyone is using the same plan as the last few years with regards to fertilizer.

Saying the safety nets are NFG
      without actually saying it
Trouble with crop ins is it works good for us old fellas near the end
Not so much for the young fellas that need it and haven’t had ten years good crops
Or have had 3 years drought
Or 3 years hail or flooding
Good for these blood thirsty bastards that are gouging us at every turn to read this tho
All they see is $26 canola!

I can't see the article but if they are blaming CI payouts, I think we went over this already. There was a 2.3 billion surplus in the crop insurance fund that was used by the government in general revenue so any payouts were more than covered

Exactly 👍, there has been very low payout in nearly 20 years and they have been collecting a lot of premiums over that time
