Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Good morning the Rush is on as I have breakfast and heading out for a few more days of seeding before a storm pushes north and hits us again.

So here is the Crop report.

We should get to 45 % done by today. Everyone is starting up now yesterday. Monday it was full of mud and not fun at all to seed. But by last night the ground had hardened up enough that seeding was enjoyable.

We have guys going 24 hrs a day with one crew, now that can be done for a few days but god you tire out fast. Others are from sun up 4 Am till 10.

Mud is a dud but so far I am not complaining.

Sloughs are taking areas others you just drive right through.

Spraying is getting done and actually doing something, but it's almost June, not May.

Work hard guys it's up to you No one cares at all it's just you and you can get this crop in the ground. The parasites will pick it clean later but they need us Bad and right now they are quiet as a mouse.

In Ottawa, they have consultations ending on June 3 for the 30% reduction in Fertilizer usage by Canadian farmers. Yea we're ****ing seeding so how many will respond. Then in the next breath, you have our idiot PM and Ag minister BOBOO saying it's up to Canadian farmers to grow more wheat oats and Barley Canola to feed the world.

You two ****ing fools you need one to get the other.

    **** politicians are stupid.

Now on the Provincial, I bet the genius will be so happy that his area is almost done and can't see that half the province is still seeding. This isn't leadership. Also if you have just finally got 1 inch of rain and you were so dry last year that you had basically piss all for a crop that one inch is a start, not ideal growing conditions. **** me the heat is going to hit and if timely rains don't happen it's drought again.

Good luck all and please stay safe it's just a ****ing Crop but it needs to get into the ground to get insurance in the fall if mother nature throws us an early curveball with an early frost.

Half done here today. Canola went in first. Now durum.

Shocking input costs. I dont know about others but this is a nerve wracking year already, hope it finishes smooth.

Been drying up a bit this week too. Might have a chance to get some more acres back in a few weeks if we dont get a deluge.

Jazz durum is a interesting choice to seed if your that wet and that late, just wondering with fusarium, midge, and very tough grading standards why you dont grow wheat ?

The desperate guys with 20 days to seed have started. The ones with 8 or 10 days know seeding and slime don’t work well. But with the change in the forecast to four days of rain, and very iffy after that, the guys that did slime it in will at least have sort of a chance. Still sinking in mud up to my ankles on the home quarter in flat productive areas. I suppose I could seed a few acres of hills and come back for the other 140 later? LOL No go for me. I would say two per cent in the ground around here.

Glad I don’t rely on it anymore. My mental health is thanking me, though it would be fun to gross 1000 plus on every acre which would be a cake walk if it was just a shade dryer and current prices hold. Kind of torn that way. When I say something about it, my wife sets me back on course!

Fence posts will go in well, and water hauling for sheep is non existent which is nice. Hay perking up with a couple 20 degree days, sending sheep out to pasture soon. Just a few straggler ewes to lamb. The long days are coming to an end.

Funny, a couple days ago we did a farm tour with a guy from Toronto. He is from the UK originally, and he wanted to tour a sheep farm? Haha We farmers really need to make those connections. He had lots of questions, and it was so nice to be able to answer them. At one point we were up on our north land that looks like mini Scotland, once it greens up at least, and looking at the horses and he’s like, “You must really love your life?” It is beautiful up there, and I tried to explain that yes, there are perks, but a beautiful landscape doesn’t remove all the stresses of life. Sure made me remember we farmers have a lot of perks along with the stresses that others can only dream about.

Be safe and good luck. If you can get this one in the ground, it could be a doozy of a year if things click for you.

              Trudeau is so loved.

It doesn’t matter if your super large farm or a section it’s still a farm. Mud is a Dud.

On my Favorite half all slopes to a ravine to the Qu’Appelle valley. No sloughs.

              Just up and down.

But Trudeau does deserve what he is getting how ****ing stupid is it to tell us to cut fertilizer use and then tell us to grow more.

Fu k me he is a idiot.

Finished up yesterday, just have a soybean plot to do then some custom corn 🌽
Will be watching close again today for fleas in the canola. Other than that we have been fortunate for a change so far .
Good luck in wet areas , must be tough on the nerves , stay safe

What a difference a week makes. First half section which is some of our drier land only 20 or so sloughs to go around. We are not very far from sheep and haven’t gotten the heavy rains. About 4” for the month of May (so far). In our area I would say about 15-20% done. Pleased to be getting seed in the ground here and when a fellow thinks about it we are very fortunate. When you hear about the problems others around the world are dealing with. Like SF and Sheep say it’s just a crop and if you are doing all you can that’s all you can do.

Finished Monday. And now the nerve wracking until it's all up and waiting for an ever disappearing rain.
                    I hate seeding LoL.
We're all in the same trade.
                    Good luck to all.

Some one was commenting Trudeau goes everywhere with a security detail and has to be rushed out of harms way every time he is out. Happened in Surrey and Stoon and the natives in Kamloops shouted him down.

And Harper casually sits in the flames games like it’s no big deal. Wow did Canada ever fck up when they voted him out.

I spent far too much time in my life under far too much stress and strain. We are all different, and I just couldn’t keep doing what I was doing and be healthy mentally. Kudos to those who operate well under the conditions. It’s amazing to me how y’all do it. Kind of like being a mortician isn’t for everyone.

The precip that screwed this area was the two inches of rain followed by the ten hours of heavy wet snow. In my feed buckets in the yard, it totalled well over three inches of moisture that day.. take away an inch of it, it would have been different.

Just took a very dead skunk up North and the hay is growing by the minute. So there is that. It’s far, far better than last year.

There was no maple tapping this year, red leaf. I hope you have enough carryover to get you through! Ha.

Tyranny begets return tyranny. Beware public backlash! Glad to see judges finally standing up to tyranny as in Tammara Lich will be exonerated of all wrong-doing ……and hopefully will sue their tyrannical asses off. Donations to Centre for Freedom will probably be next for mandatory seizure of bank accounts. What a ****ry we live in ! How could anyone defend the tyrrany unless they were paid to do it?

Cross your fingers for sept 23. That’s when Brian Peckfords SCC challenge is heard for Trudeau violating our constitution. Then you will know if Canada is a real country or not.
