18 miles to town. Took two separate roads there and back. 4 total fields seeded. Lots of ruts. A couple fields harrowed. Lots of ruts there too. Sloppy, slimy. One neighbor pulled into the field to harrow, went a half round, made ruts, and left. So that is 144 quarters along the road. 4/144*100=2.78% complete, not far from my guesstimate. And it’s dryer that way than here. Rain tomorrow afternoon, overnight and rain and cold off and on for the 14 day forecast. 10 of 14 days going forward have zero sun, several highs of 13 to 16, and high precip probability.

It ain’t looking good out here. Plain sick.

So glad for the lengthened growing seasons due to the climate change. And the copious rain, makes plenty of grain, remember that!

Cudos to the farmers that didn’t get much of a crop last yr but managed to work up the gumption to put one in this yr. One of the most stressful yrs I can remember. Even when we were flooded 10yrs ago or droughted out in the 80s prices were stable. All bets off this year.

Apparently 2 passes of Liberty is $35 per acre. Wow.

            I hate seeding LoL.
We're all in the same trade.
            Good luck to all.
Looks like we can start spraying peas on Monday… nice to see they are up.

Wheat just up… Canola just started to emerge.

            Soil is cold… slow…

Rain would be very welcome… we are running on empty…

            Cheers

PLEASE take ours! One drop is too many for the land around here. 20% will not be seeded, weeds.

Should finish tomorrow on last of feed. Even second seeding season might be completed now unless I decide to broadcast more stuff in wet spots. Lucky we got a good dump of rain last week. Totally lucky we’re not too wet nor too dry so far. Wheat emerging, barley and oats starting to poke out. For as dry and no issues there are enough guys with enough acres to put in. Think people were almost waiting for rain or a sign from the heavens to start. The perennial late starters fired up 4 days ago. So far so good touch wood.

Finished seeding today. Some rolling left to do. Was looking forward to some rain this weekend. I see that has changed no rain in the forecast now. Western Canada appears to be a place of 2 solitudes, either too wet or too dry. We have adequate moisture for germination, but that is all. I do hope that it drys out for those of you under water.

I'm informed that it is all about freedom. Nothing else matters which would imply that the world does not need the food we grow.

Rain on its way, system will be crossing into sw Saskatchewan in the next few hours. Hopefully it loses some steam before it gets to us. We’re still struggling to find dry fields, we’re knocking off a lot of acres but leavings a few acres on each field because of wetness. God luck seeding everyone.

Finished my barley yesterday. Just some grass to seed with some left over seed and I am officially done for 2022. Triticale and durum is up and looking nice so far. A 2 inch rain would make the liquor stores do a fabulous business. LOL !

Wish I could take some from the too wet areas and even out Mother Natures wrath.

There is a lot of water in the photo. Sure is flat. Wish that could be shared with those of us in the dry areas. Now I understand why you guys have so many stucks in a year, you just can't really pick out the low soft spots because the fields are so flat. Here the water collects at the bottoms of the hills and it is real easy to see the spots that might be soft.

Sectional control should have good payback going around all the wet spots.

                                Saskfarmer,

Looking at a couple of pictures and videos on twitter of yours and I have a few questions.

You look like you have a 12" spaced drill and perhaps a 2" opener as it has almost a paired seed row in the photos, is that correct? And V packer or round packer? I like the job it does in the photos?

Also looks like you are seeding 5.6 mph? Is that a speed you can do often on 12" spacing and do an acceptable job? I am on 10" spacing and stuck at 4.5-4.8 mph and would like to travel quicker. Not sure if you are just sped up because it is late or if that speed is common.

Tractor cab looks very clean, are you running the bourgault drill on the Deere monitor and does it do sectional?
