Just looked at the latest weather network forecast for my area(central Alberta), in the next 2 weeks there are 2 days with 60% showers and that is day 13 and 14. Not good. No hot days in the forecast, might be our only saving grace.

Made the mistake of looking at the forecast after my first post.
If you’re thinking of doing that get on it now. Don’t buy pre 567 Deere or post 688 new holland. We had a new new holland every few years for a period. Last two were BR780 and BR7090 and quality went down. If you’re going twine on NH get the autotie and then you don’t have stupid computers that never stay programmed. Dad had NH balers from the 70’s until we went to the dark side and bought a 568 Deere in 2012. Still have the same machine today going strong. In that same time previously we would have went through 3 NH twine balers. Still those 688 and older Twine balers didn’t break down. Just sometimes they’d not tie but trip them and they’d tie. And another thing if you decide NH do not get the megawide pickup in that era. Biggest pieces of shit.

Constantly inputting old data and comparing against actual outcomes and we STILL cant say with any degree of certainty what's going to happen more than next day!

But 50 or 100 years out? We got that shit down to the tenth of a degree!
I've often wondered how many of the climate change minds question the models and realize these predictions are a long shot at best but don't care because its all about wealth transfer.

And the people who truly believe that the science and modelling are accurate and correct, will not debate.

When you combine both of these camps, the result is a deeply flawed arrogant leadership.

Forecast was for 5-10 mm but we got 1.5 inches on fields that were already to wet to plant. Water is running out of the fields again.
          Saw that yesterday
          Sorry to see it
You guys sure got hammered this year
I know exactly how it feels
Hope it gives you a break
One asshole up on the hill south of town stopped and asked how I felt about all the water , with a chuckle , when we got 7” in a day and a half and nothing up there , a few years back
          *** near slapped him

That storm in ND and moving into Manitoba has power and lots of rain.

I am hearing a few larger guys with lots and lots to go saying they will proceed till the 10th and then quit if they get to a magic number for their farm in acres seeded. We all have a number we need and some have done the math.

Some to the North East of us got 2 in again and they haven't started yet. let that sink in No way to seed and it's June 1 but Gormley and our Ag minister said it's just a little late.

So AGT got federal money again to build a fertilizer made from shit lentils peas and other crap. Good idea but will it help farmers nope but BOBOO was so happy to give 3.5 mill.

Why never anything for producers always guys with ideas that most of the time don't work.

Its hard to wrap my head around how some areas are that wet especially when our area is bone dry.

The latest forecast here is the final nail. You can tell the mood has changed in alot of farmers. Most have come to the realization that this year will be over in 3 weeks. When my lawn and my crested wheat field turn brown, everything else will be on fumes shortly. But thats farming. We’ve been here before, we will do what it takes to get by, and do it all again next year. Its all we know, and quite frankly and more importantly its all we want to know. Best of luck out east.

So true Freight. We can’t miss many rains and u guys can’t buy one. Hard on the nerves when everything is so much money and out of our control. Hard to turn your back on doing a good job because it’s your profession but sometimes best to cut and run on costs when conditions don’t warrant it. Not in many of our natures but a necessity for survival in these times. Best of luck to all and hope for better conditions

Yup , started water grass yesterday…

Not nearly as dry as some but we will not be far behind with forecast

Today was snotty all day, misting off and on all day after rain overnight and plus 12. Guys are gunna go tomorrow and to heck with the consequences. I don’t blame them. Mess or not, slime or not, stuck or not, it has to happen. Area probably 15% done max. This week looks nicer in terms of dryer, but cool still. Need some heat and dry to get things going.

I can’t imagine watering grass in May. We’ve never watered our lawn in history. Watered the garden once last summer for the first time as the corn was wilting one day. That’s my one hope. A good hay crop and grazing season is in the works.

A lot of land work happened last fall in these parts. If you spend hundreds of thousands on machinery and fuel, draining 40 acre lakes, pushing sloughy bushes down, and trying to make more land, but end up not making more land, where does that leave you? Do you recognize why the land had never been broken up to now, or do you try harder next year? Will be interesting to see.

Grain farming is not fo the faint of heart. I respect you all, not just everyone has the fortitude to do it. My hats off to y’all.

It’s a vast area that much drier than us here
I will go out on a limb and say 1/2 of Sask and Alberta right now . Like 50-60% of all crop land in western Canada is very dry. 30% May be too wet
10-20 % May be ok for now , but without significant rain in 14 days will add to the too dry area

Doing the quick math tonight, and I need peas to do 1.5bu/ac to get enough combined with carryover for seed next year.

Durum will need about a bushel, and mustard hopefully I can scratch up at least 50-60 bushels.

Latest precip forecasts look dismal through the first half of June. That's going to be a recipe for crop failure here. I'd feel awful stupid selling my remaining stores bushels and then have to buy those bushels back for seed!

I find your second to last sentence more depressing than too much rain, or not enough.

Are you sure I couldn't convince you to take up fishing?

What’s going on in Manitoba? Is today going to be the end of the rain?
