    BASF Boycott

So while floating on Nitrogen this afternoon I was thinking we should organize a BASF boycott, and then I saw Spyguy had suggested the same thing in another thread. I think this is something we could do. Not a 100% boycott as I understand there are some chemicals you have to use and this should be for our benefit not something that causes us grief. And it doesn’t have to be forever just for a year.

We start a movement where none of us buys canola seed or name brand liberty next year. To make sure they feel it, we further commit that post 2023 we will not buy BASF seed that is a blend, as a condition to our retailers of seed purchase. So after the boycott is over in 2024 any seed we buy will have to have a 2023 seed tag that is not a blend. Stick them with all the 2022 seed production. This is a good time to get the ball rolling well in front of fall seed sales.

It doesn’t need to be an angry boycott with us screaming at reps etc. Just a bunch of cheerful farmers not buying BASF canola seed or Liberty for the 2023 calendar year.

Boycott BASF! I like how it sounds. Hats, bumper stickers etc. let’s make it a movement.

I’ve been boycotting canola for years due to the insane ridiculous seed costs. No one has joined me on that yet.
Good luck with everyone getting together to start something. Heck, it’s hard enough getting along with your neighbour. Most hate the worst for you.

I’m not sure I want to get rid of my Invigors but would definitely have no problems using generic chemicals. Talk is cheap but when it gets down to squeezing a couple more bushels out of your canola Invigor’s are hard to beat. Like everyone else I’m not impressed with what went down this spring.

        I haven’t grown canola since 2016.

          What’s canola?

Okay enough smartass but I started farming/ranching 23 years ago and I didn’t agree with the western Canadian wheat board and I wouldn’t grow anything that was regulated by them. So I do believe farmers really need to vote with their wallet.

Lawsuit smawsuit, it won't go anywhere. Maybe the lawyers make a few bucks.

Government should be all over this by now and hauling their asses in front of a regulatory committee.

Won't happen. We have absolute shitheads on farm groups that could make some noise but won't.

Phuck sakes the only way they found out Weston was price fixing bread was that he admitted it to keep himself out of the Panama papers and then government gave him 12 million for new freezers.

BHP just received 100 million dollars from the federal government. And Potash prices have nearly tripled since the last time I was really paying attention.

We are phucked , no lobby effort, no BRMs and no one talking to MPs.

Why isn't BASF at Regina this week? I looked through the list of exhibitors and they aren't there. One of the main reasons I wanted to go there was to go to their booth and rip anyone there a new a$$hole. They f u cked me on 42lb "A" bags of seed this year and then f u cked me again on Liberty pricing for chem already in my shed! Going to try to go totally generic next year. No BASF seed, no BASF liberty. I'll heat my shop all winter if I have to to store generic liberty for next year. Maybe I'll go back to RR stuff. Been a while for that too. They are burning through customer goodwill like paper. F uck them and all their reps. I hope they go bankrupt.

I don't think we need a boycott. I spend 6 figures with a company I think I deserve some attention. There are only about 20 bigger farmers in this municipality. Does BASF want to alienate 12 of us? Our money talks louder than a boycott. This isn't Heintz ketchup changing the taste a little and gambling on that making more money with the whole population of canada to play with. I know you BASF corporate are out there reading this. Stop the greed. I gave you another chance this year on my farm because the sample bags I planted last year were actually the best stuff I grew so I grit my teeth and ordered more for this year. I regret now making the decision to give you another chance after I boycotted you for a couple years for the ABCD crap. Put my Liberty back to around $3000/tote and f uck off with the ABCD crap and I'll be a loyal customer again.

BASF is a partner of the World Economic Forum. The one the predicts by 2030 "You will be happy and own nothing."

they're holding the liberty hostage so as to make people not question its 50% increase in price plus lots have paid and not received product
they are trying to squeeze out the competition while gouging a huge profit

simple explanation ,they had to slow emergence so their liberty would get here on time
